I have been trying to find out who the ancestors of my Joseph Shannon were for about 25 years now. So any avenue I hear about I try to follow up on. I usually get the same result I got in this case. As of now, It looks like my Joseph Shannon's parents were Thomas Shannon and wife who lived in Ross County, Ohio, at least in 1820 and 1830 as they were listed in the censuses there at those times. Problem is, I can't prove a thing. Joseph was born (according to the censuses) about 1812 in Pennsylvania, was married in 1836 in Fayette County, Ohio, was in Buckskin twp., Ross County, Ohio in the 1840 census and was back in Fayette County, Ohio in the 1850 census and was in Putnam County, Ohio in the 1860 census. Joseph died in 1860 at a pretty young age. Sometimes, I guess, it just don't work. Goos luck and good hunting, Welthy
