No Record of Shannons found in Guardian Books. Most of the early records were kept in the will books. First Guardian Book was about year 1832. Records of Deeds both grantor & Grantee 1792---1890 DeedBook "F" pg 329 Proof of parentage of Joseph's Shannon's wife---Polly Billingsly and others including Samuel Shannon who married the sister of Polly, that is Margaret Billingsly. Date of Deed: 7/25/1817 Proof of Heirs of James Billingsly, deceased as follows: 1. Henry Billingsly 2. John " 3. Eliz. " 4. James " 5.Jane " who married John Carnahan 6. Polly " " " Joseph Shannon 7. Margaret " " " Samuel Shannon 8. " " " ? Carnahan heirs being: Hugh, James, John, Thomas and Polly Carnahan. This possibly daughter who married Carnahan perhaps brother to John, who married Jane, she now deceased and her children made party to the deed, as was customary. Deed Book "T" pg 122 4/19/1834 Samuel Shannon gives a deed to 166 acres of land on Gasper River to United Society of Shakers, George Rankin and Eli McLean trustees, land situated next to John Rankin and John Shannon. Samuel Shannon is given as resident of South Union and deed states simply "that for and in consideration of former agreements and settlements and the sum of $1. cash in hand paid". (end of research)
