Hi Kathy, Long ago, Louise Dedman told me that all Shannon s that were in Arkansas in the early 1800's were related. A note of interest, my Gr-Grandfather's brother Wm. Henry Shannon had been arrested & thrown in jail under Judge Isaac Parker's court. He is descended from Pegleg George Shannon. Wm. Henry was acquitted when it was established that it was self defense. He was mortally wounded in battle at Chickmauga. Ft. Smith is near Van Buren, and south of Washington co. Who was your Gr-Grandfather? Please realize that the Shannons ALL used the same set of names for their children. It makes it difficult to pin down exactly which one you're talking about, and is easy to get them mixed up. Mike
