    1. [SHANNON-L] Malcolm Shannon's paper
    2. Hi All, I have a lot of material on various lines that I'm going to start putting into roots web as I can. much of it will be from past years, but time should not influence it. So am going to start with a paper sent to me by Malcolm Shannon of Corona del Mar, Calif.; These Passing Years Of the early Shannons in Arkansas I will try to follow the life of Isaac Shannon and his descendants, as he was my Gr-Grandfather. According to Miss Clara B. Eno's "History of Crawford County" Isaac Shannon was a land owner and on the tax list as early as 1821. Other settlers coming later were the Paynes and the Blacks who settled in Lee's Creek township. Hugh Shannon and a few more families moved on into Washington County in 1826. Not much information is to be had because so much was lost when the courthouse at Van Buren was burned during the Civil War. Isaac married Jamima Black and to them four children were born, all in Crawford County, as far as I know: Margaret Jane b. 1827 d.1897 m. Ammon Payne James Huston b. 1/12/1829 d. 8/1/1864 m. 9/4/1851 to Lucinda Edna Edmiston William H.(grandfather) b. 3/1835 d.1/26/1878 m. 9/15/1859 Sarah E. Drake by Rev. N. Givens John L. b. 8/11/1837 d. 8/7/1912 m. 8/21/1860 Mary Joyce Records show that Isaac Shannon and family moved to Washington County, around 1845 and settled in the Vineyard area near Evansville.
