    1. [SHANNON-L] Isaac Shannon: descendants letter
    2. August 24, 1973 Dear Michael, You wrote such a nice informative letter. Your information is absolutely correct in every detail. The infant Samuel is my uncle. The two families were together and when the war was over my grandfather went home to them. The date of my grandfather's letter is June 18,1865. The troops were returning home. This is a few years earlier than your letter, I think, tho it is the same situation. In our telephone conversation you mentioned a woman's name(I don't remember her name) who had talked and also had seen people who knew about Isaac. I wish you would put that in writing, for I did not get all of it in my mind. I believe the pieces are beginning to fall into place. Whatever I can do, I'll try to help. My Best Regards, Ruth Lincoln Ark April 232,1973 Dear Michael Shannon I appreciate hearing from you and your effort in tracing the Shannon History. I am writing my brother in Calif.,he is working on the same thing you are and I believe he will have some up to date information. When I hear from him, I will try to get some information together and write to you. I am working on Hugh Shannon. I have been trying to find the missing link from 1775 in Lexington,Ky., and 1821 in Ark. I should hear something from my brother right away. Let's keep in touch. Ruth Shannon King Lincoln Ark Sept 12,1973 Dear Mike, As I check through my papers, I am finding some interesting items. This one in particular; "Alexander Buchanan married Lavinia Shannon, daughter of Joseph Shannon". I have checked one side of this chart, but can't make any headway begining with Samuel. Do you have any dates here? I don't know much about my ancestors. Isaac left Sherman to go to Denton County, to visit a Wm Shannon, also Mr Joyce. Mary's father visited Isaac on his way west, probably Colorado. I feel that he would know something to leave to posterity. This letter doesn't make much headway, but I am working on this thing. I feel I am getting near Isaac, and maybe the answer to the question we need. Best Wishes, Ruth King Thomas Shannon m. Agnes Reid Children: John m. Sarah Reid & had; John Jr., Capt.
