I am trying to find information on William Hugh Shannon born about 1829 in Arkansas. The 1850 census for Newton County, Missouri shows him age 21 and living with a family "Kearney?" with the head of household a woman named Catherine. The census also lists Elizabeth and George as Shannon's and as Kearney's so it could be there really were 2 Elizabeth's and 2 Georges. He does not show up on the 1840 census. He lists his father and mother as both born in Kentucky. William Hugh and Amanda Holmes married 2/24/1874 in Newton County, Missouri. I have not been able to find any records of him from 1850 again until 1880 when he shows up on the 1880 census for Arrant County, Texas. On this census it shows he is married with 6 children. Amanda Holmes is his wife and it seems like she is a second wife. There are three children before their marriage: Nancy VS., Mary Eliza, and William HE. Then there are three after their marriage: James I, Arthur, and Evart. This is my great grandfather and I would really love to get any information.
