I am also looking for James S. borned abt.1855 & his brother Elmer S. borned abt.1861. Dates are fingured from the 1870 Ohio Allen Co. Census. Both are son's of the Francis borned in Pa. around 1818. Elmer maybe the one I found in Greene & Guthrie Co.s Ia. Elmer S. married Sarah L. Boyd 5 Aug. 1885 Guthrie Co. died 12 April 1917, buried at St. Mary's Chaholic Cementery Franklin, Greene Co. If anyone knows anything about this Elmer S., I would love to hear from you. My Shannon family, moved in the early 1880's, folowing there married daughters ( Lucetta McDole & Arvillla Mayberry ) to Mills Co. Ia. Their son Francis Freemont and his family went west a couple years later. Robert Thrift & Elmer would have went with there parents, Francis "Frank"& Nancy "Jane" Allen Shannon. So far we haven't found a lead to James S. My gr-grandmother, Alice Ann m. John Wesley Zearfoss, later went to Searfoss, is the only one of that family, that I know of, to have stayed in Ohio.
