Marlene, There were more than one Shannon family involved in that expedition. George is not in my line, so I've not researched him. I think he was an orphan brought over by his father who went back and died at sea. Samuel and Capt. Wm. Shannon if memory serves me right were descendants of John and Sarah Reid Shannon. My line comes out of John's brother Samuel who married Sarah's sister Jean. Mike Shannon
Mike- I believe the brothers Samuel and Capt. Wm. Shannon (sons of John Shannon and Sarah Reid) served under George Rogers Clark, not the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Both died in Shelby Co. KY, Samuel on 15 May 1813 and Capt. Wm. 5 July 1794.
