    3. Linda: Have you received an answer on the Calculation of birthdates as yet? If not, here it is: 8870 FORMULA Using the 8870 Formula to ascertain a birth date can be a tremendous help to the genealogist when checking tombstone or death record dates. If a tombstone or death record shows that a person died May 6, 1889 and was 71 years, 7 months, and 9 days old, but no date of birth is listed, in order to correctly arrive at the birth date one has only to use the 8870 formula to quickly get the date of birth rather than taking time to count backwards. 18890506 (died 1889 May 6) Subtract 710709 (71 years 7 months 9 days) ________ 18179797 Subtract 8870 (constant) ________ 18170927 (born 1817 Sep 27) I have this formula in my files and I wish to give credit to the source as follows: (from Georgia LYONS from her copy of The Saginaw Gen. Soc., Inc., reprinted in the Questing Heirs, Vol. 23, Betty J. Mason) Sincerely, Bonnie Huser, A Shannon ---------- > From: Stanly or Linda Widau <[email protected]> > To: [email protected] > Subject: [SHANNON-L] Calculation > Date: Sunday, November 28, 1999 10:58 AM > > Does anyone have the special formula for finding out the birth date given at time of death, year, month, and day.
