Hi Leslie, Were you on this list a year.....maybe 2 years ago when we discussed the tendancy of many of the SHANNON line towards alcoholism? I think I began by informing the list that I began my interest in genealogy as a child because all the other kids called their grandfather Grampa, Gramps, Granddaddy, or something. Whereas I had to call mine MR. SHANNON. Strange for a child to understand. My grandfather was an abusive alcoholic and when my father & his brother were old enough to take care of themselves, my grandmother divorced him. Will cut this short, but we kids of my father were never allowed to call him anything but Mr. and when I began research as a young woman, my dad never wanted to hear anything about his father, but was very interested in his grandfather & further back. I think all of us on this list were extremely surprised to find this trait of alcohol dependency running thru our SHANNON line. Even lines that are not connected. Someday, maybe one of us will do some research on this, might prove most interesting & a health benefit to our future generations.
