Connie, The May 11, 1773 birth date for James Shannon comes from his gravestone in the Reid Graveyard in Warren County, KY on what was his father-in-law James Reid's farm. Samuel and Jean Shannon had children born as late as 1780. I believe that birth date for Anna Shannon Marrs should be March 12 or 17, 1758 rather than 1753. The 1753 date would have her born one week before her brother Capt. Thomas Shannon. DISCLAIMER: The birth date for James is based on a published set of cemetery records. Some years back, on a brief visit to Warren Co., I attempted unsuccessfully to locate the cemetery. At least one other birth date in that published list, that of James's sister-in-law Elizabeth Reid, is exactly 30 years earlier than primary family records in my possession. While the birth year of James is consistent with the excellent research of Louise Shannon Dedman, she may also have been working from this same publication rather than a first hand visit to the graveyard.
