You may find him or his folks in the Stark County Court House through deeds, taxes etc. I think the best place to start is to check the Historical Society there. A good possibility that they may have the place where George lived, was married, births of children, deaths & cemetery........Check & see if there is a Latter Day Saints Church (Mormon) in that area. They usually have a genealogy room located within the church & they keep great records of everyone. By the way, have you checked the 1800 & 1810 census in Stark County? I may have that year census. 3. I don't remember who asked about the Iowa Shannon's but I have my info handy so here it goes. 1. George b: 11 jan 1829 OH his parents unknown born OHIO also according to census. m:Melinda HEDGES children: 2.Clara b:1855 IA d:1860 IA 2. Charlie b:1857 IA d: 1928 CA 2. Ida 1859 IA married a Hining (Russian name) 2. Clarissa 1868 CA 2. Alfred or Arthur 1872 died at 17 2. Cora J. 1875 married a Scales in CA died young **2.Charlie Morton Shannon had the following children m:Clara Alice Miller 1868 CA 3. Arthur/Alfred Leroy SHANNON 1886 3. Guy Clinton Shannon 1887 3. Georgie Shannon 1889-1898 3. Rose Marie Shannon 1898-1985 George was known to have been in Logan County Illinois before 1852. He was a justice of the peace, and a judge. After 1852 he traveled to Cass County Iowa arriving June 12 1852 in Turkey Creek now known as Grove Township and was one of the 1st 3 settlers, arriving with Morris HOBLIT, RD McGeeon and Peter HEDGES. They also lived in Breckinridge twnsp, This also is where Samuel Enoch Shannon resided. He arrived it seems after my George. I have been trying to prove the two families connect. Daniel Wilson,JW Kerr,Oscar Lucas,AG McQueen,JR Kirk,JP Wheeler,EW Davenport, Albert Wakefield, VM Conrad, DA Barnett, AP Thayer, all became residents shortly after my grandfather. FYI ..My Uncle Roy has a striking resemblance to Hugh Shannon, son of Samuel. Hugh was born in either Madison or Cass County 28 January 1872. He died November 18 1960. Roy was the 1st child of Charles M. Shannon...above After they moved to Cass county, the family packed up and went by oxen cart to pike's peak in 1867 and then on to Nevada County CA. They settled in Stanislaus County CA and Fresno area. Charlie Shannon was Mayor of Wickenburg Arizona for 13 years. He had 4 known children after marrying Clara Alice Miller in 1868. He had been married once before to a Nancy someone and we believe she died. They were only married for two yr by the census. What I would love to have is George's parents if you have the information, please pass it along.
