    3. not real sure what part of PA. the census only shows that he was born in PA. i am however leaning towards the possiblity of his parents being john shannon and margaret marrs..they had a son(samuel) born around 1780. i remember my grandmother talking about the marrs cemetery in auglaize county ohio being part of our family...so i am going to make a trip out that way to see who all is buried there....hopefully there will be some shannons in there......thanks christina

    3. Thanks, Linda for your info on my John Shannon/Keziah Rogers marriage. However, the two David W. Shannon marriages you cite aren't mine. My David Whitehead Shannon m. Anne Elizabeth Ramsey 14 April 1864 in Columbus, OH - I have their marriage record. It's good of your to pass along the info, though! Thanks, Marlene

    2. Jane, I am looking for the parents of Lavinia Shannon who married John Lewellen. She was born in 1821. I believe (no sure proof yet) her father was James Lewellen and she had a brother James. No other siblings known. I also think her mother's maiden name was Vance. I'm not sure where she was born, but lived in Preble Co., Ohio when married in 1842. Does any of this ring a bell in your Shannon research? Sure would love to find a crack in my brick wall. Thanks for any info., Sue

    3. Regarding Clarence Shannon, b 1886. It may be a coincidence, but my great grandfather, David Whitehead Shannon, left Columbus, OH headed towards Kansas and stayed for awhile in Harrison Co., IA, just below Monona Co. He went with at least one brother, Thomas Shannon, and they had children born about the same time as your Clarence. Do you know anything more that might help to connect these Shannons? My David Shannon's parents were John Shannon and Keziah Rogers who went from KY to Licking Co. OH abt 1832, Marlene

    3. Hello Shirley, My grandfather, John Shannon came to Australia (Glebe, Sydney) about 1862 and Married Catherine Keogh in St.Mary's Cathedral, Sydney in 1867. From the copy of their marriage certificate his parents were Thomas Shannon (County Cavan) and Mary Blake (County Cavan). From the Griffiths Val. I have found Shannon and Blake and after checking the Full volumes of both names, have found several Thomas Shannon and various Blake names and Am now trying to find how to go further with these.Iam trying to find the birthdates for Thomas Shannon married Mary Blake, Cavan, Ireland but think I will have to search for Sur. Ord maps to try and sort out who were the children of their marriage. Not very sure how To go about same. I have not been able to link up with the USA Shannons but do have quite A lot on my grandparents and their children. Being an old lady, I remember my aunts very Clearly and have made contact with some living relatives. I have checked Shipping lists for my grandfather, John Shannon and grandmother Catherine Keogh (County Kildare) and find that Catherine and her brother John Keogh, arrived in Sydney on the "Northumberland" in 1862, the Deposit Journals show that the deposit for them was paid by their Brother Patrick Keogh who came to Australia on the "British Trident" in 1861. I have not been able to find shipping records for John Shannon's arrival but know that he and Catherine lived At Glebe and died there, were married and had eight children, my mother being Winifred Agnes Shannon and she was the last born and a twin with her sister Maria not surviving. A brother of My grandfather, Robert Shannon came to Australia in 1876 and married Catherine McGovern who Was also from Ireland. My mother and father had ten children and we were all born at Glebe. Thanks for your enquiry and should I find any further details I will send them on to you. 2. Hello Jane, I saw your post to Melinda and the fact you had been searching the Shannon's for a long time. I've been looking for information on a Joseph Shannon who was born 18 Oct 1815 in Dublin City, Londonary, Ireland. He came Pennsylvania, I believe the Pittsburg area prior to 1837 because my record shows he married on 04 Jul 1837 to a Mary Ann Landes? He later went to Greenfield, Dade County, Missouri where he died and is buried. Do you have any information on this Joseph Shannon? Thanks for your help.
