    2. Hi Marlene, That is wonderful that we are related. I would really appreciate it if you would email that information on the Shannons. Please send me what you have and I'll go over it and send you what I have so far. I'll be on vacation for the next two weeks, and I'll do more research on this. Perhaps I can find something out about the generations before John Shannon b. 1789. Maybe I will be able to help others on this list, also. Here is my email address: Shasta4737@aol.com Sincerely, Susan E. Davis

    3. To Susan E. Davis: Indeed we are related, Susan. John Shannon b 9 March 1789 PA ( according to his stone in Licking Co OH and d 2 Aug 1852) buried Swisher Cemetery, Licking Co OH, and Keziah Rogers b 26 Nov 1792 KY d. 19 Bef 1862 are the parents of your John A. Shannon. I descend from your John Shannon's younger brother, David Whitehead Shannon b 1838 Summit Station, Licking Co OH. When a young man, my David Whitehead Shannon worked as a Carriage Painter for his brother, your John. I have a list of their children, and plenty of material I have collected on this family for many years. I will be happy to share everything I have, but think it best not to clog up the Shannon List. I will post you at your own e-mail address. Marlene

    3. We understand they were both born in Ky. Also Ohio doesn't have death certificates available for 1902---I think they start a little later. I looked for deaths for Shannons caused by Native Americans in Ky and Ohio and no luck. I'm hoping to find someone else searching for the same branch. I have cousins who have also investigated the Shannons with no luck. Our luck really needs to change soon since we are getting older------ha! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Louise & Bill Seger" <redhen@infowest.com> To: <SHANNON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, August 07, 2004 9:46 PM Subject: Re: [SHANNON-L] Nancy Shannon Foreman > Trudy > > Have you looked in the 1850 census and later, in Auglaize and/or Logan > counties for John Foreman with a wife named Nancy? > > That census includes states of birth's and other valuable information > > Bill Seger > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "vaughn46" <vaughn46@swbell.net> > To: <SHANNON-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Saturday, August 07, 2004 7:18 PM > Subject: [SHANNON-L] Nancy Shannon Foreman > > > > I'm at a deadend trying to find Nancy's parents and their background. > Nancy > > (my gr-gr-grandmother)was born near Lexington, Ky in 1820. 3. I'm at a deadend trying to find Nancy's parents and their background. Nancy (my gr-gr-grandmother)was born near Lexington, Ky in 1820. Family history says her parents were killed and she was raised by neighbors. I don't know if she had siblings. She married John Foreman in 1838 in Ohio. They lived in Auglaize and Logan counties. Nancy died in Bellefontaine, Ohio in 1902. Thanks. Trudy

    2. Hi Marlene, I've been researching my Shannon family, and I have a John A. Shannon who was born abt. 1820 in Kentucky and married in Licking Co., Ohio in the 1840s. It sounds like your Shannons' may be related to mine. I have put this family information on my site with John A. Shannons' family starting here: http://www.tribalpages.com/tribe/browse?userid=shasta4737&view=0&pid=1876 Do you think that my Shannons are related to yours? Maybe we have some information that we can share. I would also love to find John A. Shannon's parents. Sincerely, Susan E. Davis

Interesting that you are in Texas - one or more of my John Shannon's brothers migrated to Texas, according to family stories. My John Shannon was b in PA and married Keziah Rogers in 1819 or 1820 in Nicholas Co., KY - can't be sure when the Minister returned his marriage record to the courthouse. They moved to Licking Co OH abt 1830 where they both died. Marlene

    3. Kevin - I agree - would gladly be Canadian as well ! All I know about mine is that she was born in Canada in 1858 - sometimes she went by Anna Lydia Shanahan and sometimes by Lydia Shannon. But I know nothing else about her - except that she married Edward Daley in CT and had some kids. Someone who has a vague memory said that grampa said she was a French Canadian - so possibly her mother was French - just don't have a clue. 1. SHANNON Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Myra SHANNON which was taken at the H.S. Stephens Studio in Rushville, Indiana. The photograph was probably taken in the 1880's and notes that Myra was 12 years old at the time. Based on limited research I believe that this is a photograph of Myra SHANNON b. 29 Oct 1873 in Hanover, Indiana to parents William Faris SHANNON and Esther Ellen COWAN. William Faris SHANNON b. 13 Jan 1848 in Hanover, IN and married Esther on the 10th of Jan 1871 at Richland, IN. Esther Ellen COWAN was b. 8 Feb 1850 in Richland, IN to parents Hugh COWAN and Mary Ann BUCK. In addition to Myra the couple also had a son Faris Cowan SHANNON b. 20 Nov 1886 in Richland, IN. The family was living in Hanover, IN during the 1880 census. W.F. SHANNON noted that his parents were born in IN and KY respectively, while Esther E. advised that her parents were born in KY and IN respectively. William's occupation was noted as Farmer. I'm hoping to locate someone from her family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
