    1. [SHANNON] Charles M. Shannon
    2. Pearleen & James Plumpton
    3. Hi All I'm putting out this information once again in hopes to make a connection. My husband's great grandfather is Charles M. SHANNON. His middle name could be Mortimer or Maltimer, but I think it is Mortimer. He was born March 12, 1869 allegedly in Illinois, United States. On November 30, 1893 he married Mary Jane McElwain in Sault Sainte Marie, Chippewa, Michigan, United States. In a Michigan social newspaper, there was an article on December 9, 1893 - Page 1 that read "Now Is The Time to Marry. Miss Mary J. McElwain and Charles M. Shannon were united in matrimony Nov. 30th, at the M. E. Parsonage by the Rev. C. M. Thompson, Mr. Thompson says he has a fine assortment of marriage certificate which he will be pleased to present to couple matrimonially inclined." I found a record on the LDS site that had this information: IGI Individual Record Charles M. Shannon Male Event(s): Birth: , , Illinois Christening: (blank) Death: (blank) Burial: (blank) Parents: Father: Harry Shannon Mother: Martha Multouse Marriages: Spouse: Mary J. McElivain Marriage: 30 NOV 1893 Sault Sainte Marie, Chippewa, Michigan Messages: Extracted marriage record for locality listed in the record. The source records are usually arranged chronologically by the marriage date. As you can see, Mary Jane McElwain's maiden name was misspelled. It was likely spelled for the way it sounded. In the Canada 1901 Census for Ontario - Peterborough East - Lakefield area, Mary is listed as May. Mary Jane McElwain was born June 9, 1872 in Galway Township, Peterborough County, Ontario, Canada. Also Noted in this census is the findings that Charles immigrated to Canada in 1896 from the U.S. Their two sons Charles Robert m. SHANNON and Verra Parker SHANNON were also born in the U.S. prior to 1896 when Charles, Mary and the two boys came back into Canada. The 1901 Canadian Census took place on April 10 - 12, 1901. It is not know how my Charles M. Shannon met up with his wife or if Charles had any brothers or sisters or what the true names of his parents are. My Charles M. Shannon is a brick wall that I would love to tear down and move beyond. My hope is that someone will read vast information on Charles M. SHANNON and will be able to make a connection. 3. Bev, Thanks so much for writing back! The names McNulty and Schmidt do not ring a bell. However, you may check out my website for the name WALSH. I have a lot of relatives from Walsh. My great grandmother was Maude Walsh-McIntyre. I did have a man who wrote and gave me a MASSIVE amount of info. It confirms that this Julia is MY Julia and I am ever so happy!! Would you like me to look up anything for you on Ancestry? Michele "Bever;y Brown" <mommomb@twlakes.net> wrote: Michele wrote: > Hello everyone! 3. Hi, Hang in there-- this sounds like a family I have some information on that, at one time anyway lived in Highland County, Ohio. A Joseph Shannon and his wifeTemperance Tolbert and their kids lived in Highland County and indeed had a son James R. Shannon who married a Julia Anderson. It will take me a bit of time to dig this stuff out and send it to you. So, if you will, please e-mail me so I will be sure to have your correct address to send the info to. If I remember right- off the top of my head, Julia Anderson was James R.'s first wife and that he also had a second wife. I haven't looked at this stuff in a while but think I remember that James R. Shannon had a son Wells Tolbert Shannon. I dug that stuff out because I have an ancestor, Joseph Shannon from about the same time- but this Joseph Shannon is NOT mine. Welthy Nachtigal

    3. Hello everyone! I'm new here and I'm wondering if I might be able to find a "link" here to what I am looking for. My grandfather is an Anderson and I have traced back to a George and Elizabeth Anderson. George b. ? in MD died btw. 1838 & 1840 OH., Elizabeth b. 1795 MD. d. 1890 OH. They had at least 12 children that I've been able to find. 1. Julia or Julian (still female) Anderson-Shannon b. ? MD 2. John b. abt. 1818 MD 3. Charlotte 4. Louisa 5. Lucy 6. Sarah 7. Elizabeth 8. James b. 10-5-1830 OH. d. 1-1-1883 9. George W. b. 1830 (possible twin with James I believe) 10. Alice b. 1883 11. Matilda b. 1834 12. William T. b. 1836 The only reason I know Julia's last name was because I have a copy of her father, George's, will. He states what he is leaving to her and says Julia Shannon. I am hoping Shannon is NOT her middle name and he was being affectionate. I have searched for her and have come up with a possibility of marrying a James R. Shannon. In 1860 I see Julia, age 45, and James, age 49. It states them living in Washington, Highland, OH. She is listed as being born in MD. He is PA. They have Martha, 16, Rebecca, 11, and Elizabeth, 2. Also living near her is a George Anderson b. OH. but his age doesn't go right with being Julia's brother. He is listed as being 23. He should have been 30, however it would not be the first time I've seen a census list a huge mistake like that. He is married to Mary who is 20 and have a daughter named Pricilla that I think said 6 months. Also living near was a W.T. Shannon, 24 with Sarah, 19. If anyone has any information, please contact me here or by email at walsh_family_reunion@yahoo.com THANK YOU!
