Can you help me? The names Lilian G Hunter, Bernard, Josephine Walls, Philip Shannon (my father) ( DOD March of 1976) They are connected. I found it on your genealogy. ( By the way, you did a terrific job). It is considered private. I know for a fact that these names are associated to Philip Shannon. DOB 7-11-1911. We know he has died. Last known address was in Chester NY, Orange County. 10918. (according to the SSI). SS# is164-18-9676. I have all of his siblings and their children's names. Last known place of employment was with the Greymeyer (SP)? Institute. The Grey Nuns.We cannot ge any feed back on them either. We need closure on where & how he died. Who pronounced him dead, did he have a funeral?, & where is he buried? I am getting up in years. Also, how do I find who was on the witness program? I spent all day on there, Do I have to go through every name that just list Shannon ? I know there was a Todd Shannon searching for his father, and his funeral was in NJ. I have pictures and information I can share with him. His mother was Bianca Melchiorre. (sp)? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Bev P.S, I cannot remember exactly which part of your genealogy I got it from.
The first names have always seems be the most obvious connection through oldest son. Never could have enough proof for the connection. My Robert Shannon (1739-1815) first son was John Shannon (VA) born in PA. Some said Robert's father was Ambrose but there are no Ambrose in the family line. There was the first Andrew Shannon of Pennsylvania thought by some to be one of the four brothers arriving in PA in early 1700's.. Have you seen these sights of the PA early family of Robert Shannon. Seems this is a early Church of England. My family were all Presbyterians but this Shannon line has the right name and approximate dates to be my Robert Shannon (1739-1815) of Wilson County, Tennessee. _ROBERT SHANNON WILL 1747 - SONS JOHN AND JAMES_ (http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=philpa1682&h=107861&indiv=try&o_iid=012077&o_lid=012077&o_i t=012077&offerid=0:7797:0) _JAMES SHANNON WILL - 1765 BROTHER JOHN_ (http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?rank=1&ssrc=owt&gss=angs-c&gsfn=John&gsln=Shannon&gsby=1714&gsdy=1771& _82004010-ftp=Ireland&_82004030-ftp=Perkiomen,+Philadelphia,+Pennsylvania,+USA &ti=0&recid=107827&recoff=1+2+13+16&db=philpa1682) _JOHN SHANNON WILL - 1714-1771 - PHILDELPHIA CO., PA_ (http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?ssrc=owt&gss=angs-c&rank=1&gsfn=John&gsln=Shannon&gsby=17 14&gsdy=1771&_82004010-ftp=Ireland&_82004030-ftp=Perkiomen,+Philadelphia,+Penn sylvania,+USA&ti=0&recid=107844&recoff=1+2+13+16&db=philpa1682) _ST. Hi Michael. If I read your letter right- Thomas, William and George are supposed to be the ones who came "over" together- and were the sons of a Robert. Can you give me any identifying information- such as spouces -or other -to help me identify which Thomas, William and George these guys were? As I'm sure you know, seems like every Shannon family- at least that I ever heard of- including mine, used those names, so I'd like to know which Thomas, William and George they were- and Oh Yes, their Dad Robert too. In my own Shannon family the best explanation I've been able to get is, "Our Shannons have been in this country for a VERY LONG TIME". Big Help- Huh? My second-great-grandfather- another Joseph Shannon was born in Pennsylvania about 1812 and was married in Ohio in 1836. There must have been an absolute hoard of Shannons who migrated from Pennsylvania to Ohio about that time and of course they all had kids named James, William, John etc. Sure can keep one busy trying to sort them out. Just saw this post, there are several sites with information on Granville. I think might ancestors must have been in the Witness Protection Program ! Hi, The only thing I have on Granville Billingsly Shannon and Unity Williamsis that he was born 4 May 1801, died 4 January 1873 and that they went to Arkansas from Kentucky.- this from my "Shannon Marriages Index". Years ago I had a lot more info on that group of Shannons who migrated to Tennessee and I'm sure I had it at one time who Granville's parents and siblings were--but I only kept that stuff for about 10 years and since none of them were my Shannons- I got rid of a BUNCH of it. One I've wondered about (not mine either) but he seemed to be in the right place at the right time- to also be a son of that Rebert and Florannah Shannon- and that one was a Michael (had a son Harvey) Shannon who married Margaret Hopkins 18 October 1796 in Sumner County, Tennessee--BUT nobody connected to Robert's line seems inclined to claim Michael- so I wonder???? Since I live in Celina, Tennessee all those places where Shannons lived are quite familiar to me. Please note--I am Welthy Nachtigal- my husband is Walter and he does NOT do genealogy.. Welthy
Well I had wondered about that Welthy. Granville is descended from Joseph>Samuel>Thomas>Robert>John>John. Robert, Thomas, William and George came over together, Robert supposedly father of the other three? Hi Walter, Just out of curiosity, have you ever run into any Williams's marrying into the Shannon line? My Gr-Grandmother was a Unity Williams, dau. of George, b.1812 Rhea co.,Tnn.,married Granville B. Shannon b.1801 Logan Co.,Tnn. She is a real brickwall for me! They had 11 children, yet I've never been able to find anything on her. As I wrote to Sue Sigmund, Robert Shannon married Mahulda McCartney 15 September 1836 in Wilson County, Tennessee. There were several Shannon families who lived in that area of Tennessee and some of them were related. I used to have a bunch of info on the Wilson County, Tennessee Shannons- but that was about 20 years ago. I'll keep an eye out and if I find anything else on Robert and Mahulda I'll let you know. I don't know now how much of that info I kept- they were NOT my Shannons. Welthy Nachtigsl Welthy Nachtigal

It's always a good idea to put locations in your posts. I checked and see this family was in Tennessee, Robert Henry born in Virginia and died in Arkansas, correct?
