    1. Re: [SHANNON-L] shannon families
    2. Bobbie, When I first started my research years ago, I was fortunate to find two cousins I didn't know I had. They both gave a lot of material that would've taken years on my own to get. I was able to find much more with their help, and was blessed with two new cousins that I felt I had known all my life. Louise Dedman sent me 20 page letters with research, proofs and conclusions that are invaluable. I met her on one of my trips and regarded her as a favorite aunt I had known all my life. Thanks to Joyce Shannon Bridges, they are now on line for everyone to use, Tommie Taylor helped me find material on my Gr-Grandfather Shannon and his parents. They were very gracious, and believed in sharing and spreading the information around to those interested in preserving our heritage. They have inspired me to do the same. I think I get more satisfaction out of doing that, than I do researching. Louise had been researching since the year I was born, 1939. Some time after my visit I learned she had been burgled three times. She had her research in Franklin,Tnn, in the family home, but lived in town. The third time they scattered her papers all over and set fire to the place. What a horrible thing to do! I can relate to how your husband feels and of course, I identify with you. I get a little panicky when I let it pile up on me. I hope someday soon we can find that we are family. Mike

    2. Bobbie, I sent you the chart Thursday. When I got home, I took a look at it and realized it was a mixed up mess, so I sent you another. The one with the 2 on it near my return address is the complete and correct chart. Mike

I don't really have anything on anyone but Thomas as I had to quit research when my workload became heavy. I'll have a chart in the mail to you tomorrow. We were sorta wet here for a few days. Mike

    3. Be glad to: Adams/York Co. PA 1740 to 1797 documented. Thomas Shannon b. around 1720-23 in order to have money for 1740 patent. wife, Mary, is in the 1797 will of Thomas Shannon, as are his last three children, Joseph inheriting homestead and 300 acres, Samuel inheriting a few pence, and Mary with her husband, Henry Cowley, inheriting the adjacent house and land on which they now live. There is also a young Thomas Shannon, his grandson, living with Mary and Henry for which he gives a sum to be divided until he comes of age, and Henry is to divide it up to him. In the years between I have lots of tax reports and inhabitants lists, etc, but no other mention of names on these. I would imagine he would be a son of Andrew Shannon, rather than a grandson. Wouldn't you? Thanks for any help. It is exciting to think this may be the right line. Really appreciate your help.
