    1. [SHANNON-L] Shannon line
    2. Jimmy KERR
    3. Ref: which line are you? Thomas and Agnes are my line, but after several years research, it would appear that this line should be changed to the Deadmon and Dexal line, (as these were the orginal researcher). Concering the story of David Wilburn Shannon. The story goes that he was killed by bushwackers, before 1860. This would mean that Southern sympathizers killed him prior to the out break of the "War of Northern Agression". To lend some credence to David having Northern ideas; One of his sons Mark B. Shannon moved to Texas with his step-mother prior to the War. Well his step-mother remarried. The War started and her husband joined a Confederate Unit, as did Mark B. Shannon, not long after joining and apparently at the first chance, Mark B. hastily left the Confederates and joined the Yankees. Thus, if his father favored the Yankee position, perhaps the son did too. On the other hand, back to the orginal question. If David Wilburn Shannon is the son of Hugh Shannon and Jane Marrs, then why have Northern sympathies, because his father owned a slave. Hugh Shannon did, as the slave is buried in the Shannon Cemetery where Hugh Shannon and Jane (nee Marrs) Shannon are buried. Genealogy is sometimes like putting a jig saw puzzle together that doesn't have a picture to work from, only the last names are written on the pieces.
