    1. [SHANNON-L] John Shannon and his wife - Martha McLure
    2. ANDREW M SHANNON
    3. I am trying to obtain information about John Shannon and his wife Martha McLure, both born in Ireland (Londonderry?) who came to Scotland in the early 1800s with their family. Unable to find any information with the exception for their son Hugh Shannon and his wife Margaret Hamilton married in Glasgow on 12 October 1838 who are my ancestors. Hugh and his wife settled in Hawick, Roxburghshire.

    1. [SHANNON-L] Re: Shannon Lineage; Ireland to Canada
    2. Dear Sue: I have been trying to make the connection between my Shannon's and the homeland of Ireland or Scotland. My great-great-grandfather Robert Shannon Sr. married a Maria Lowe. Our clan settled in Grenville, Quebec, Canada in either the late 1790s or early 1800s. They eventually migrated down into Michigan. I don't know if Robert Sr. had siblings or what, but I found a note from my grandpa dated 1961 that mentioned Robert shot a revenue agent in Ireland and their clan were cronies of Daniel O'Connell. Do you have anything coincidental to this information? I'm eager to hear from you and I'll share what little I have it it's the same family. 3. My Shannons did come from Scotland originally (my grandfather who has passed away told me that) but I only go back to Antrim 1805 approx. I am interested in your James Shannon from the 1700's can you tell me more about him and the letter written by his daughter. I happen to be from Canada but am not sure who came over from my Shannon clan, but I would be happy to look up info from you as I am in Ottawa near the National Archieves. I have been to Northern Ireland a few times. This is what I have so far for my Shannon line. My Shannon Line is as follows: James Shannon -shoemaker born approx 1805 ish = or - (lived at Ferryquay Street Coleraine) Children: Mary Shannon married John Miller- 1856 John Shannon married Barbara Brown-1859 (more children but not sure who) ______________________________________ John Shannon and Barbara Brown's children (all born in Coleraine, Northern Ireland) Children: Maggie Shannon ** (my great grandmother) William Shannon James Shannon Robert (Bob) Shannon Alfred Shannon Thomas Browne Shannon John Shannon Barbara Shannon _______________________ Maggie Shannon married Joseph Wilson 1893 (my great grandparents) John Shannon married Ellen Wilson ________________________ Any info I can help with let me know. Best wishes Sue Wilson Faubert From shannoned@aol.com Your message: Sounds interesting. I am especially interested in connections to Scotland and Canada. I hit a blank wall in Antrim with James SHannon. So many records were destroyed that it seems hopeless unless I find someone connected who has some oral or written history. My information comes form a letter written by the youngest child, Jane, who was an infant on the passage in 1849. Anything you have would be greatly appreciated -----Original Message----- From: Shannoned@aol.com [mailto:Shannoned@aol.com] Sent: Thursday, January 17, 2002 8:21 PM To: SHANNON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [SHANNON-L] Shannon line WHile my Shannons came over in 1849 to Canada them to Ill. and fought for the Union. 2. Sheila Shannon
    3. Joe, The wills I speak of have no Shannons in them and would not benifit Shannon researchers. The gentleman I am sending them to is a Marr and is interested in all Marr/Marrs. I have both Marrs books in my library if anyone needs that information although these are mainly the ancestors and descendents of Ginnia Jane Marrs who married Hugh Shannon in which he is only mentioned as being married. If you need information in the Marrs books I mentioned, please send the names and dates of the Marrs family you are looking for and I will look and see if they are listed. Sheila

    3. No Don, I'm not aware of it, although I have not gone back that far on the Bennett side of my family. I don't have any Marrs in my direct Shannon line, although I know that there were several Marrs/Shannon marriages. I belive the Anna Shannon you mention may have been a sister to my Shannon. 2. Mark, you might try the Shannon's in Shannondale which isn't far from the area where your's were. They settled there and it's going toward Clarion, Pa. There were quite a few there about that time, and there still is a few left . Dorothy
