Do you have kids for them Judy? I have a Hugh Walter Shannon in South Dakota (no dates or other locations whatsoever) who married Cora Edith Westell who was born in 1886. I don't have his parents or any information on him whatsoever. These were my great grandparents, so I do have a partial list of descendents. Date: 10/03/1999 Reply-to: [email protected] Are you were related to a William G. Shannon who is buried in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Erie PA? The William Shannon, buried in Erie was married to Leila McCall Shannon. He was born April 7, 1875 in Sharon Springs, NY and died in Erie, PA, June 26, 1943. They had five children: Lavinia Gertrude B. Feb. 16, 1898, Melville J. B. Oct 16, 1901, William Arthur b. Sept 23, 1906, Florence b. Jan. 12, 1908 and Robert E. b. April 22, 1909. I have been thinking of sending a letter to all Shannon's in Erie to see if any are related but haven't done it so far. If you have any clues, I would be grateful for any information. Thanks - Leita Reed in Victor, NY [email protected]
Does anyone have any information regarding this SHANNON(see below)? I am looking for Will SHANNON who was in MO m. Annie (possibly BURNS) and they were in St. Louis, MO in 1897 where they had son James William Raymond Eugene SHANNON (what a mouthful!), according to family oral history he was named for several children born before him that had died in infancy. Will died about 1897 (either shortly before or after James' death) and Annie remarried and had a daughter Ruth who married a HOWELL. Annie and James moved to AR prior to 1920 where he married Charlotte M. McGonigial. Any info would be greatly appreciated - this couple seems to be a big mystery! Coffeyville, Kansas (where I was born), sits right on the Kansas-Oklahoma border--in fact, there is a South Coffeyville, OK, on the other side of the river. There were certainly Shannons who moved to that area--my Nancy Shannon, married to James Adams, lived in the country not far out of Coffeyville from ca. 1880 till her death. She had a brother David, born ca. 1837 OH, and named a son (my g-gm's twin) for him, but I don't know any more about him. Nancy and David (and others) were the kids of Alexander Shannon, who was born ca. 1798, lived in OH/IN/MI in his adult life but was probably born in VA. I have some suspicions about his line on up, but no confirmation. Mother may have been Mary Thompson, but that's far from confirmed. Maybe a connection? People tended to go where relatives were. What do you think? Dear Connie: I have been away from my computer for over a month (almost two months). However, I notice your comment about migration patterns. I am sorry that I missed all the data regarding these migration patterns. I am very interested in that subject. WOULD IT BE ASKING TOO MUCH TO ASK YOU TO FORWARD TO ME THE INFORMATION ON THE MIGRATION PATTERNS? I am giving a presentation regarding my Revolution Soldier as a DAR Chapter program. I need data regarding the migration pattern this family may have taken from New Jersey to Virginia to OHIO. Please advise. Thank you. hi, searching for any info on ISAAC SHANNON and MARGARET HULLINGER. they married in 1836 coshocton co. ohio..does anyone have this family line....thanks christina
Supreme Court Decisions 1937-1975 I looked at this site & put in both SHANNON & SHANNAHAN for up to 50 results. Below is the link for the hits. I checked the first one regarding some sugar hauling between LA & TX. Guess you would have to read each one (they have 33 hits for me) to see exactly what the given name/s are if it is not listed on this page. But, you just might find a record of an ancestor.... PLANT CITY: ITS ORIGIN AND HISTORY pg. 272 ....On visiting county schools , after becoming superintendent, Dr. Buchholz was distressed by the incompetence of the teachers. He immediately intitiated a teacher training program at Bloomingdale School, which led to the establishment of what were called normal schools. The first institute was so well received that later sessions had to be moved from the school to the Presbyterian Church. When enrollment increased from twenty-two teachers that first year to fifty-four, the normal school was transferred first to Plant City, then to St. Petersburg. Among the seventy-seven teachers enrolled for the 1897 institute were a number of Plant City teachers, including Professor and Mrs. E.G. Burney, Tom Beaty, T.M. Venning, Charles Shannon, Fred Robinson, Irvin Walden, Katie Young, Hattie Hendrix, and J.E. Knight.......

Anne, Could you explain about your Thomas Shannon and Elizabeth Taylor. I have a Thomas Shannon b. around 1720, I think because he had a patent to buy land from Wm Penn or William Penn's son, in 1740, so must have been a young man by 1740. We are desperately searching for our Thomas Shannon. He had 3 children that we know of, but probably more. We have; Samuel, Joseph and Mary. Joseph is in the 1790 York Co. PA census along with his sister Mary's husband, Henry Cowley. It is misspelled in the census as Coollly. Would you have any advice as to what or how to find them.
