I have not been able to connect William with any Shannon family, though there is a family tradition that they came from PA. Dorothy [Shannon] Willis Spooky, ain't it? <G>

    1. Re: [SHANNON-L] Shannondale, IN
    2. Hi Linda & any Shannon out in Cyberspace, The name Shannon is one of my surnames. There's been mention of Shannon's that live (lived) in Shanondale. I received all of the info on the Shannon's from a dear couple that (I'm guessing) still lives there. I thought perhaps they were a part of my Shannon's as they didn't live that far apart, but that's not the case. My John Shannon, b. 1755 in Md. was an Am Rev. War soldier that m. Jane Dunlap from Mercersburg, Pa. They had 10 children, and moved to Penns Valley in Centre Co., Pa. Later moving to Rockland, Venango Co, Pa., spending the last of their days on the farm of their son John, who had served in the War of 1812. Many are still in Pa., but there are many that moved westward into all of the states, and even other countries. If this sounds like your SHANNON'S, let me know. Dorothy (Shannon) Cote....... from Erie, Pa.

    1. [SHANNON-L] Jane Shannon & Alexander Reid
    2. Russell M. Reid
    3. Widget, You are right on Alexander Reid and Jane Shannon. The 3 March date was the date the marriage bond was issued, but their family bible lists the marriage a day later. You will also find a 22 Oct 1792 marriage bond issued in Bedford Co. VA for John Shannon (Jane's brother) and Jane Reid (Alexander's sister) with a marriage three days later. They also settled in Shelby Co. KY. About 1833 Alexander and Jane along with other related families from Shelby Co. KY migrated to Lincoln Co. MO. I have a lot of material on this line, including the Alexander Reid & Jane Shannon Bible. If Jane's parents, Thomas Shannon and Mary Reid are the Shannons you are linked to, then I have a some of reconstruction of their other descendant lines. Russ Reid -----Original Message----- From: Widget Shannon [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, November 23, 1999 3:32 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [SHANNON-L] Pictures Russ, Yes, I showed Jane Shannon (d of Thomas Shannon and Mary Reid) marrying Alexander Reid in 3 mar 1790 Amherst Co, Va.
