Hey Mike - are there plans to get more than one of the Dedman Letters on the Shannon letters website through rootsweb. Every time I have checked I get the same letter . I know it takes time and I am just curious. Jan
In searching for Shannons, I checked the first 75 on this site of 384 hits and found mostly personal pages of peoples private lives, ie boyfriends, etc. even car sales, and no genealogy. Did I get the wrong site at homestead? I did not have a member name. Sue, I don't know what happened. That was the address I had. You might want to email Joyce Shannon Bridges, she is the webmaster of the site and has researched our Shannons for years. Her address is; JSBRIDG@aol.com Mike
Hi Mike, I can't get this link to work. Just takes me to Homestead.com. Is there something else I need to do? Welthy, I would bet your Thomas Shannon is related to ours. Our Thomas was the grandson of Thomas Shannon and wife Mary. The lived in York Co. PA. Their daughter, Mary is his mother, and he lived with Mary and Henry Cooley, according to the will of Thomas Shannon Sr. Then they moved to Ross Co. OH, and Thomas was a purchaser at the estate in 1813 of Henry Cooley who died at this time. Thomas by then was grown up and probably married. Then about 1830, I think the group moved to Indiana. Thomas had an uncles, Joseph and Samuel Shannon, brothers of his mother, Mary. He probably would have named his sons, Thomas and Joseph. We have corresponded before. If you would like copies of the will or estate, etc, I would send them to you. Sue, Here's another for you; put in google.com in the window at the top of your screen, when it pulls up google, put in Joseph Shannon and click on I feel lucky. Mike
Sue, When I put them on the SHANNON-L list, I put them on just as you wrote your note asking about them. After a time, they would go off the list and into the archive, which you can access at http://www.homestead.com/shannonsearching/files/index.htm. You can have copies of the transcripts I have if you wish, just send me a mail address. Where would I find the Shannon-l archieves old family letters. I also have some old letters that I could add to it from and to RT Shannon approx 1928 Bann Rowing Club. Thanks for this info. Hi fellow listers, Our Shannon list is really going great! My gr-grandfather, William Shannon at 3 yrs of age and his Wesleyan Methodist father, Robert Shannon, came to Sunbury, Frontenac County, Ontario, Canada in 1820. First, I haven't been able to find them on any ship's list and second, he was listed as being born in County Down in the 1901 census and in County Cork in an earlier census. I'm trying to figure out why the difference - maybe one could have been his port of exit. I'd be really happy to hear from anyone related to the above family. In Canada they married McNEELY/McNEELEY'S, HODGSONS, MAKINS, and JAMES.
