There is a narrow isthmus, connecting a nearly circular piece of land to the northern part of Dublin city (like the Mahia peninsula at Hawke's Bay). This circle of land is about 3/4 occupied by the Howth and Howth Demesne townlands. There is also the moderately-sized town of Howth, with its own mini-harbor, out on this peninsula - in the townland of Howth. The civil and RC parish for this area is also Howth.
