It is Friday early afternoon here and this is the latest.... according to my neighbor who I spoke with on the phone, our homes are relatively ok.... some fence damage and they lost 2 trees including one which came up roots and all, both landed thankfully on the fence between our yards instead of on their roof. She didn't see any damage to my house but they are going to look again today... so that is a BIG relief. The power is out and Alabama Power says not to expect it before Sept 29.. but I'm hoping that is a generic answer. I do know their website says nearly 80% of their stations are gone so they have help from other states in now and will start working. I know driving here I counted 215 Power trucks from other states driving towards Mobile, I stopped counting at 215. I think they had gone to FL to help with the storms there and just were moving over. The bad news right now is that the roads are so damaged I am not sure right now if I can even get back to Mobile... Interstate 10 is so damaged in Pensacola which got the brunt of the storm, the bridge is out that goes over the bay, and so I have to figure out an alternate route, the problem is the alternate routes that go from state to state are also closed as they are closer to the water and still flooded. I may end up driving up to Montgomery and then down, but parts of Montgomery are flooded also from all the rain. I am going to try and figure out something today and then try and leave in the early morning .... I know the dogs are about to drive my cousin crazy as they are used to being with me inside and here they need to stay outside as they have 3 dogs, 2 cats and a cockateil, so basically its' a zoo! Even if I don't have power, at this point I just want to be in my own bed. So for me it could have been much worse, and I am grateful. I still am up in the air and won't relax til I see my house myself, but from there I can deal with it. I just had visions of the 3 big pine trees in my yard sticking out of my roof :) but that evidently didn't happen. So I will keep in touch and if the power is off tho you may not hear from me for awhile, but I will be in touch by phone with people who will know what is going on.
