I am searching for information about the ancestors of Catherine MCCARTHY (born about 1829) and Andrew MCGRATH (born about 1830) who left Ireland (probably County Mayo) about 1850 and settled in Brooklyn NY. Andrew's parents were Andrew MCGRATH Sr and Mary FOX who may have emigrated with their son. Catherine's father was Bernard MCCARTHY and her mother's given name also was Catherine but I don't know her maiden name. Catherine's parents may have emigrated with her. Catherine MCCARTHY and Andrew McGrath were married about 1854 and had at least the following children: Peter, Mary, Ellen (Nellie), and Margaret. According to the 1880 Census Peter was married, but the parents and the three girls were living at 582 Sterling Place in Brooklyn. Catherine MCCARTHY MCGRATH died in 1901 and Andrew MCGRATH died in 1904. I'm also searching for information about the ancestors of Bridget REILLY and Thomas VICTORY both born about 1843 probably in County Longford, but possibly in either County Mayo or County Cavan. Bridget emigrated to Brooklyn, NY about 1846 probably with her parents, Phillip REILLY and Anna MCGRATH (no relation to the above MCGRATH.) Thomas VICTORY emigrated with his father Thomas VICTORY Sr and possibly his mother Mary (maiden name unknown) about 1853. Both families settled in Brookly, NY where Thomas and Bridget met, married and had at least the following children: Mary, Catherine, Rose, Philip, and John. Bridget REILLY VICTORY died in 1923.
