Patrick McDERMOTT (Mullingar, Westmeath) married Brigid DE(E)GAN (Lisdowney, County Kilkenny) before 1857 in Wilmington Delaware (USA). Travelled westward through Ohio, Michigan and Illinois. Settled in Chicago by 1890 with six young adult children. Brigid DE(E)GAN may be related to James CULLEN (County Wexford) through his wife Anne DEEGAN. They who settled in Cleveland Ohio (USA) before 1860. The McDERMOTT children and the CULLEN children called themselves "first cousins." In Cleveland Ohio Michael BROUGHAM/N married Mary SWEENEY. They remained in Ohio and their daughter, ANNA MABEL BROUGHAM was married at the Catholic Church in Euclid Ohio (right outside of Cleveland0 to James McDERMOTT, the son of Brigid and Patrick McDERMOTT (who were settled in Illinois.)
