    1. [SH] Spelling in name (TOBIN/TABIN)
    2. I am new writing to this list. I am hoping that someone can shed some light for me regarding my surname. It is confusing and I don't know where to start with this. I am looking for TABIN/TOBIN. I understand stand back in about the 17th century there were TABIN"s in Warwick, England and were expelled from to other countries because they were Catholics. They scattered to other countries for safety. That would probably be a G-g-grand parent. But my G-father indicated that he was born in Austria. I believe that he used the name of TABIN. First name of Francisek. My G-father married a Kowalczyk in the US in 1901. My father, his one brother and three sisters used the name of TOBIN. And I was given the surname of TOBIN. I still use it and as well as my children. I know that I started this research just a little too late as all have passed away with only one of my father's sister living and she doesn't know anything about the past. She gave me a few papers which don't help out as there is no dates or places for me to check. I would appreciate any point of direction. I know that there are a lot of TOBIN's and TABIN's in this world. But, to whom I belong to, is a question I would like to answer some day. Thank you in advance. Best wishes to all, Dick Tobin
