    2. Eugene L. Atkin
    3. Robert ATKIN was living in Tullamore, Co. Kings, in the 1860s when children Percival Robert (Robert Percival?) and Augusta Emma were born. Hi son, Percival, became a watchmaker and married Henrietta Mary WHITESIDE in Co. Limerick in 1888, where their first two children were born by 1893. Percival and Henrietta moved to Dublin before the 1901 census. Percival's sister Augusta remained unmarried, lived with Percival and Henrietta in a row house on Marino Crescent in Clontarf (suburban Dublin), and was Methodist. Percival and Henrietta were Anglican, Church of Ireland, which may have reflected the WHITESIDE preference. To avoid growing hostilities, Henrietta, her children, and her mother migrated in 1913 to western Canada (and later to the US). Percival Robert stayed behind in Dublin to sell his business, but then died in Dublin in 1915. Percival may have been an Orangeman, and I wonder whether he died (at age 53) of natural causes, or as a result of the religious and political hostilities then prevalent. Family lore is that other ATKINs also migrated to Canada, but details are unknown to me. The WHITESIDE family lived in Limerick in the late 19th century. Henrietta WHITESIDE's parents were Henry WHITESIDE and Dulcibella TAYLOR (b. 1841). Both the WHITESIDE and the ATKIN families were merchants. Dulcibella TAYLOR's parents were Augustus TAYLOR and Emily ROSE. The latter were probably born around 1800-1820. The TAYLOR and ROSE families were remembered in the naming of three of Percival and Henrietta WHITESIDE ATKIN's children, William Rose ATKIN, born in 1893/94 in Limerick, Emily Augusta ATKIN, b. 1900 in Dublin, and Percival Francis Taylor ATKIN, b. 1902 in Dublin.
