    3. Dear Shamrock Listers, In case you haven't yet noticed, Rootsweb has added the Irish marriage and baptismal record database which has formerly been known as "Baptism and Marriage Records of the Archdiocese of Cashel & Emly, Counties Tipperary and Limerick." Rootsweb won the nod for these records because they are the oldest and largest internet genealogy organization in the world. The fact that they have more visitors to their sites and that they have done this all as a non-profit organization is even more to their credit. Rootsweb will soon be the exclusive home for this unique collection of church records. These are complete records, not just indexes or abstracts. They contain the names of the witnesses, the parents, the name of the parish, the name of the priest, and even some have the name of the town or townland of those listed. The new site address is: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishchurchrecords/index.html Rootsweb's Irish Church Records; Tipperary, Limerick, Waterford, Clare You will notice that the name has changed. This is because this wonderful set of over 3,400 records is growing and will encompass the counties and dioceses in the counties adjacent to the original two counties. Now marriages and baptisms from Tipperary's adjacent Diocese of Waterford and Lismore will be included. It will also include all records from Limerick's Diocese of Limerick, and the Diocese of Killaloe, which is in adjacent County Clare. It will be broadened also by the fact that it is open to Church of Ireland Records from these four counties as well. It is very easy to search; just put in the surname or full name of your ancestor, and hit the search button. Right now you will find that practically all of the records are from Counties Tipperary and Limerick. You may now add your baptismal records from these other two counties of Waterford and Clare. At the search site you will see a link at the bottom of the page, "How to Donate your Irish church records to this database." If you have actual baptismal record information from any source on any persons in these areas, please consider becoming a Donor of records. Your name and e-mail will be listed as a contact for each record you donate. There have already been a number of genuine "connections" from the information in these records; the next one could be yours. Best wishes, Tony Riordan triordan@msn.com _________________________________________________________ http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishchurchrecords/index.html Rootsweb's Irish Church Records; Tipperary, Limerick, Waterford & Clare
