Eleanor, I don't have a connection to your surnames, but I am curious about Michael Barry's involvement in the Young Ireland Rising of 1848. My gg-grandfather, JAMES POWER, was "compelled" to leave Ireland because of his participation in the group. He settled in Charleston, SC, where he was a president of the Fenian Brotherhood. JAMES POWER was born 1815 in Co. Kilkenny. I wonder if the old boys escaped together?
