Records are kept at port of -arrival- not port of departure. You will need to search the port of arrival records. Depending on where this is, this can be either easy or difficult. In that time frame generally it will be difficult. In the US you can use _The Famine Immigrants_ book (available at local genealogy libraries, not the FHC) as a -guide only- as even the authors admit to mistakes, omissions etc, but you will be wise to confirm anything you find with a peek at the actual ship manifest OR just use indexes to arrivals for that port of arrival. Many ports have indexes in that time frame, even NY, but depending on the surname it is very difficult to tell one person from another. On my Helpful Hints page there are sections on how to search NY arrivals and other US ports. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Maura Petzolt mpetzolt2@webtv.net <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> SHAMROCK ROOTS homepage http://community.webtv.net/shamrockroots/SHAMROCKROOTS Helpful Hints for Successful Searching http://community.webtv.net/mpetzolt2/helpfulhints
