I too have a James Kane in my family tree, but probably not the family has been discussed this week. My ggrandpa, James E. Kane, was born May 1851 in Ireland. He was the son of Edward Kane and Catherine Dougherty Kane. He had 2 sisters, Katherine Kane Colgan, and Bridget Kane Riley, and two brothers, Dennis and Bernard. He came to NYC April 1870. In Jan. 1873 he married Catherine Gray in Port Jervis, NY. They had 9 children. We were trying to figure out where James was born. My father had some notion of Co. Derry (Kane and Dougherty are popular names there.). A cousin thought it was Co. Down. I also have Roscommon as a possibility: a Tim Kane I worked with told me his ggrandfather Martin came from Frenchpark in Co. Roscommon to Port Jervis, and stayed there with cousins. If any of this sounds familiar, I'd love to know. We want to find where Grandpa James was born. Sue
