Is anyone on the list familiar with this place in CO Cork, located off the road between Skibbereen and Baltimore? The Road you turn off on to is just before the entrance to the town of Baltimore. I would be interested in any information about this little "hamlet" Families, history anything at all you can tell me. There is a spot there that I have been told still referred to as "Daly's Rock" in navigation maps for ships. My Great-grandmother insists (or so I'm told) that she grew up there. I can't find any evidence that this is true, the Daly's that did live there were RC and my Daly's were COI (before the Great Hunger) I don't think they were "soupers".Her mother and father were from townlands closer to Schull and Goleen, were married in Skibbereen then at some point when Mary Ann was abt 10 yrs old left Ireland to the USA and returned to Ireland after a couple of years and had more children. Their births are registered in Goleen. The mystery time frame is from 1855 to 1870 when the only other children I know of from these parents were born.(1870& 1871) An Irish family with a daughter born in 1856 and no other children until 1870??How unlikely is that?I'll be there next week, we're leaving tomorrow, so hurry those answers along. I'll wait untill tonight to unsubscribe for awhile. Regards, Nancy Kie
