Have just found out that family members lived in Kansas City Missouri, Platte Co in 1939 and possibly earlier This would be the surname MURPHY ..either a JAMES MURPHY and wife sometime after 1889 and for sure a JOHN MURPHY and wife....in Feb of 1939 This MURPHY family would be kin to the O'KANE / KEANE / KANE surname of Mylerstown, Co Kildare and at one time lived in Rochester, Pennsylvanina, Beaver Co in the 1880's.... The JOHN MURPHY family in 1939 was mentioned in the obit of Mrs Murphys aunt...Sister Bridget Kane who was a nun in the convent of the Society of the Sacred Heart in St Joseph Mo. Mr and Mrs John Murphy attended her funeral in 1939 and possibly the funeral of Mrs Murphys other aunt MaADAM CATHERINE KANE of the same order at St Joseph Mo in May of 1929 when she died... Both Sister Bridget and Catherine Kane were sisters of my G-G-grandfather PATRICK O'KEANE/KEANE who was a tailor in Rochester Pa Beaver Co back in the 1870-1880's. Evidently one of the unknown KANE sisters of Patrick married a Murphy either in Ireland or in the US ...hopefully when the Sisters of The Society of the Sacred Heart in St Joseph Mo get all the information togeather on these 2 Kane sisters and get it to me the names of all the 9 siblings will be mentioned ... Known KANE siblings are Patrick, Bridget, Catherine [both nuns] Elizabeth who married a Michael John O'CONNOR [tailor br 1858 Co Cork, Ire] ] in 1883 Ire came to this country in 1884 a few days befor Patrick's untimely death to go into business with him in his Tailor business and a bro Michale..there were 9 children in the KANE/KEANE family I do not know the other names yet. All br in Ireland. There was a MRS MURPHY of Rochester Pa who in 1885 took Patricks youngest child Margaret out of the Orphanage in Pittsburgh Pa and returned her in 1889 no first name of Mrs Murphy was listed. At Patrick O'Keane/Kane funeral inSept 1884 Rochester PA. there was as a pall bearer a JAMES MURPHY named... I think that in 1889 the Murphys left Rochester Pa and went to Kansas City Mo or St Louis Mo 1st even Ashland Ky befor coming to Kansas City Mo. The O'Connors left Rochester Pa in 1889 and went to Ashland Ky and then to Huntington WV. There was in Sister Bridget's obit [1939] mention of 3 nieces ...Mrs John Murphy of Kansas Mo., Mayme Burkhart of Huntington WV [elizabeth O'Connor nee Kane oldest daughter] and Margaret Walsh of Sheffield England.... Would anyone know of my MURPHY family in Kansas City Mo.? Or my Margaret Walsh in Sheffield England? I cked Co Kildare re surnames and both Murphy and Walsh are known names there...so maby there were 2 other unknown Kane sisters that married in Ireland and left the country... Thank you SLC
