FLYNN who was born Feb. 17, 1863 in either NYC or Philadelphia, Pa, married Johanna (Josephine)MCCARTHY of MA in the 1880s. The James A. FLYNNS lived in MD, PA and moved to Brooklyn NY probably in 1908. They had at least one son, James,Jr., and eight daughters, Lily, Ethel SCHWABBE, Grace GIROUX, Ruth OGDEN, Marianne, Regina, Dorothy GOVIN, and Gladys MCGRATH. James A FLYNN died in Brooklyn Apr 19, 1944 Jeremiah MCCARTHY left County Cork probably in the mid 1800s with his wife Catherine HAYES. His father bred, raised and trained horses for the HAYES family who didn't approve of their daughter's marriage and banished the couple to the new world. The Jeremiah MCCARTHYs eventually settled in the Boston area of MA where they had at least two sons and three daughters, Mary CAMPBELL, Kate, and Johanna "Josephine" MCCARTHY who was born April 7, 1867, married James A. FLYNN above and died July 2, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY. Andrew MCGRATH born April 1830 in County Mayo which he left in 1850. He settled in Brooklyn NY and married Catherine MCCARTHY probably in 1854. the couple may have emigrated on the same ship. Catherine MCCARTHY was born in County Mayo Dec 1829. The couple had at least three daughters, Mary FARRELL, Ellen "Nellie", and Margaret, and at least one son, Peter J MCGRATH born in Brooklyn, NY Feb 22, 1865. Peter J MCGRATH married Catherine VICTORY around 1885 and lived in the Park Slope and later the Flatbush area of Brooklyn. The couple had three sons, Peter, Jr. Andrew and Thomas, and six daughters, Rose, Anna, Lorestta VOSBURGH, Catherine (Sister Mary Theobald, SJ,) Mary CURRAN, and Dorothy Zangler. Peter J MCGRATH died in Brooklyn NY July 1, 1937. Thomas VICTORY was born Nov 1843 either in County Longford or County Mayo. He emigrated probably with his family when he was about 10 years old in 1853 and they settled possibly in the New Lots area of Brooklyn, NY. He married Bridget REILLY who left either County Mayo or County Longford in 1846 when she was about 3 years of age. The couple originally lived in New Lots and later moved to the Park Slope area of Brooklyn. They had at least two sons, Philip and John, and at least three daughters, Mary, Rose and Catherine VICTORY who was born around Thanksgiving Nov 1867. Catherine VICTORY married Peter J. MCGRATH around 1885 and died Jan 1, 1951.
