My great-grandmother Margaret COTTER SCANNELL's death certificate identifies her birth place as Midleton, County Cork in 1846 and having lived in Manchester NH, USA for 62 years. She was 82 at the time of her death on 3 Feb 1928. The implication is that she arrived in Manchester in 1865. It also states that her father was Edward COTTER and her mother was Margaret (surname not identified). I have not yet determined the port of entry or found any evidence regarding the Scannell-Cotter marriage although the 1910 census when stating the number of years of marriage leads to 1867 as a marriage year meaning they married in the US not in Ireland. David SCANNELL is from Ireland (the son of Denis and Julia - possibly BARRY) and that is the extent of the information provided on his death certificate regarding his Irish home. It does say though, that he lived in Manchester for 60 years. He was 84 at the time of his death in 1925 which would imply that he arrived here in 1865. I realize that because I do not have month and day for their birth dates that 1865 or 1866 would work for both of them. It also means they could have come here together or separately. Margaret Cotter Scannell and David Scannell had the following children - David, Julia, James, Dennis, John Vincent, Walter Bernard, Frederick, Gertrude and Ralph. ******************************* I have Catherine Sheridan wife of John Cushing arrived in Canada on June 28,1837 from Ireland at the age of 14. The family story says she arrived on the day of Queen Victorias Coronation She had six sons and six daughters. I do not have anything yet beyond Catherine Sheridan the daughter of Mathew Sheridan and Ann McCabe. She died 18 Oct 1912 at the age of 97 in Tingwick Quebec. Was the mother of Catherine Cushing who married George Muldoon in Tingwick ( 2 Feb 1842 ) 5 years after her arrival. Family stories have her related to the Civil War General SHERIDAN. Catherines parents, Mathew Sheridan and Anne McCabe married (probably in County Cavan in Ireland in the 1810 - 1815 time period). When they came to Canada they lived in Shipton. -- Sarah Muldoon Muldoon, Sheridan, Chapman -PQ, Canada Scannell - Somewhere in Ireland to New Hampshire Clarkin and Campbell in Prince Edward Island
