    1. [SH] Flax Growers List and Griffith Valuation
    2. Could someone explain to me what the Flax List is, and how it can be used for information? I also keep seeing "Griffith's Valation" everywhere, and don't know anything about that, either. Any information or help, greatly appreciated. ----- Forwarded by Elizabeth M Burkhart/Headquarters/USS on 11/11/2002 12:50 PM ----- [email protected] otsweb.com To: [email protected] cc: 11/11/2002 03:08 AM Subject: SHAMROCK-D Digest V02 #321 Please respond to SHAMROCK-L MIME-version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain SHAMROCK-D Digest Volume 02 : Issue 321 Today's Topics: #1 [SH] Affidavits & Cemeteries? This helps you find other relatives, (mostly ones still living). Of course I would ask who purchase the lot & who now owns it. Now, I know to ask for affidavits, too! :) I sent to Woodlawn Cemetery, in the Bronx, for records. When I received the info I received something I never thought of pertaining to the owners of cemetery lots -- affidavits. The affidavits show who the cemetery lots were handed down to through the family -- giving the person's name(s) & relationships. Interesting! With genealogy you learn something new all the time. :) Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS) ______________________________ Content-transfer-encoding: quoted-printable Date: Sun, 10 Nov 2002 10:16:19 -0500 From: "David N Murray" <[email protected]> Subject: [SH] MURRAY Names Changed in Massachusetts 1780-1883 To: [email protected] Message-id: <[email protected]> MIME-version: 1.0 X-MIME-Autoconverted: from 8bit to quoted-printable by lists2.rootsweb.com id gAB881U1029053 Content-type: text/plain; charset="Windows-1252" X-Message: #2 List of Persons whose Names Have Been Changed in Massachusetts 1780-1883. From Thomas's birth certificate, I know his parents were William and Elenor Boyne. Birth was recorded in the District of Ballaghadeaaen, the registrar's District of Caskleea, in the county of Mayo and Roscommon. I am sure these spellings are incorrect. I also have a copy of the baptismal certificate, for the Diocese of Elphin, in the Parish of Longhglynn. The godparents were Hubert and Catherine Kane. I know from the 1901 census, that William was a farmer, Ann Regan, listed as mother lived with them and there were now four children. Thomas, Thady, Anne and Michael. From my grandfather Thomas, Elenor died young and William remarried. There were three more sons from the second wife. All four of the children from Elenor came to American in the 1920's and never went back to visit. The three sons from the second marriage did not marry and stayed in Ireland. This is all the information I have of my relatives in Ireland. I am coming to visit in early spring next year and would like to visit in that area and find out more about our Ireland family, but I really have no idea where to go and even where to stay. Any information you could give about the area, or the Scally family would be helpful.
