    3. > > > This civil parish contains land/islands off the Northern coast of County Mayo. > I make a mistake here when describing Kilmore civil parish and calling it Kilmoremoy. I was working on both at the time I sent the email and didn't realize my mistake till Pete wrote me. Yes, I have Kilmoremoy civil parish on line but it is not an island, rather it is on the Moy River and contains the towns of Ballina and Belleek. Sorry about that, I didn't mean to confuse anyone. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com All outgoing mail virus free, scanned by Norton

    1. Power / Harrold - Baurnafea, Co. Kilkenny
    2. Darryl Scarff
    3. POWER / HARROLD ……Baurnafea, Co.Kilkennny Searching for assistance to identify the following individuals who are recorded in the BMD records of Paulstown R.C. Parish, Gowran Barony, Co. Kilkenny, Ireland.. Children of James Power & Margaret Harrold, of Baurnafea, Co. Kilkenny. Parents: James Power & Margaret Harrold of Baurnafea Date of birth Name of child 04/05/1831(baptized) John Power Baurnafea 04/05/1831(baptized) Mary Power Baurnafea (my g.g.grandmother) 21/05/1837(baptized) Nicholas Power Baurnafea Parents: James Power & Margaret Harrow? of Baurnafea Date of birth Name of child 29/06/1833(baptized) Elizabeth Power Baurnafea Mary Power migrated to Australia in 1856 to marry William Scarfe at Ballarat, Victoria. Mary Power's mother (my g.g.g.grandmother) has been indentified in records in Australia as Mary Harrell. She appears in the above records as Margaret Harrold and Margaret Harrow. I wish to identify any related Harrold/Harold/Harrell/Harrow individuals with family origins on the Carlow/Kilkenny border circa 1825. The only Harrold family I could find in the general area were living in nearby Leighlinbridge and Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow, in the time period circa 1825. I have identified the Power family living at Castle Hill before 1825, then at Baurnafea and Ballyfoyle, Co. Kilkenny. The Christian names, James, Nicholas, Michael, Richard and Thomas were used repeatedly over many generations in the Power family. Present day Power descendants retain property interests at Baurnafea and Gurtlug-Ballyfoyle. I would be pleased to have contact with any person who can add to my information. 1. Re: [SH] cross posted: a question on Bush & Kerry being related
    2. Julian Borger in Washington Tuesday September 21, 2004 The Guardian It is perhaps not surprising that the battle between George Bush and John Kerry has turned so nasty - it is, after all, a family affair. Both men are descendants of the same Essex man. Their common ancestor was a member of the minor Essex gentry called Edmund Reade who was born and died in Wickford without ever seeing the New World his offspring would fight over 400 years later. However, Reade's daughters, Elizabeth and Margaret, both sailed to New England with their mother, probably in the 1630s. Both had married into powerful families, Winthrop and Lake, who ultimately begot the two presidential candidates . The common heritage makes the president and Senator Kerry ninth cousins, twice removed, according to Gary Boyd Roberts, a Massachusetts genealogist who has researched their family backgrounds. "They were part of the upper classes in the 1560s and they are still part of the upper classes," Mr Roberts said, but pointed out that Mr Kerry has more "cosmopolitan" elements in his family tree. His father's side of the family were Jews from the Austro-Hungarian empire who converted to Catholicism and changed their name from Köhn to Kerry before emigrating to America in 1904. Mr Bush, the son of a former president and grandson of a senator, can trace his lineage to the Mayflower immigrants, and to some of the oldest families in the country. The only exotic element is a "sliver of Swiss and German on his mother's side", Mr Roberts said. The Essex connection is the closest bloodline linking the candidates, but they have seven other common ancestors.

    2. Mary
    3. Several months ago, someone posted information on how President Bush & Senator Kerry are distantly related... 10th cousins twice-removed if I remember correctly. What I can't remember correctly is which list I saw it on. I want to search the archives to pull up the list of ancestors, but can't since I don't know where to start. If anyone remembers or still has the posting, please contact me off-list. Thanks, Mary
