I am searching for information about the ancestors of Catherine MCCARTHY (born about 1829) and Andrew MCGRATH (born about 1830) who left Ireland (probably County Mayo) about 1850 and settled in Brooklyn NY. Andrew's parents were Andrew MCGRATH Sr and Mary FOX who may have emigrated with their son. Catherine's father was Bernard MCCARTHY and her mother's given name also was Catherine but I don't know her maiden name. Catherine's parents may have emigrated with her. Catherine MCCARTHY and Andrew McGrath were married about 1854 and had at least the following children: Peter, Mary, Ellen (Nellie), and Margaret. According to the 1880 Census Peter was married, but the parents and the three girls were living at 582 Sterling Place in Brooklyn. Catherine MCCARTHY MCGRATH died in 1901 and Andrew MCGRATH died in 1904. I'm also searching for information about the ancestors of Bridget REILLY and Thomas VICTORY both born about 1843 probably in County Longford, but possibly in either County Mayo or County Cavan. Bridget emigrated to Brooklyn, NY about 1846 probably with her parents, Phillip REILLY and Anna MCGRATH (no relation to the above MCGRATH.) Thomas VICTORY emigrated with his father Thomas VICTORY Sr and possibly his mother Mary (maiden name unknown) about 1853. Both families settled in Brookly, NY where Thomas and Bridget met, married and had at least the following children: Mary, Catherine, Rose, Philip, and John. Bridget REILLY VICTORY died in 1923. Thomas VICTORY SR died in 1862 and Thomas VICTORY Jr died in 1902. Jo

___________________________________ SHAMROCK Ancestor Party Guidelines The party will begin on Wednesday , March 16 and go through Thursday evening, March 23' [this is so it will end before Good Friday and Easter plans] (All times are US Central time, please adjust to suit your time zone.) Let's try and "dig up" some ancestors, and make some connections! Please follow the guidelines below in order to ensure we all enjoy the party! Ancestor Party Guidelines ****************************** 1. DON'T put "Ancestor Party" in the subject line! DO NOT put "Roll Call" in the subject line either! 2. Subject line should be your surnames in ALL CAPS with either a comma (,), dash (-) or something inbetween them to distinguish. Try not to use / as it makes the surnames run together. 3. Locations, dates etc in subject line should be in regular case. Example subject lines.... DOE, John - Waterford> NY c. 1700 DOE, DEER, SMITH, McCarthy to Australia Due to the volume of mail this party generates, the subject line is VERY IMPORTANT as many people will only read the ones of interest to them. 4. Please send ONE email with all your surnames.(not a separate email for each name) or at least those which will fit on in the subject line. Later in the week, you might want to send another email if you have forgotten some. Many of us send more than one email ... breaking it up into family groups. 5. Text of message -- please send ** just the basics** in the text. Don't tell the life story of these people, just the years, locations -- the basic facts. If anyone thinks they connect with you, they will contact you OFF LIST for more details. Don't just send a GEDCOM file. Follow the KISS procedure (Keep It Simple Sweetie) 6. Contact people OFF LIST for details. 7. Posts get sent to SHAMROCK-L@rootsweb.com Sounds simple, but people still send posts to the "request address" instead of the correct address. Due to the large amount of emails this generates, I cannot guarantee that your email will ever get to the list if you don't send it to the correct address. 8. This is only for surnames from Ireland.... please don't send every name in your family tree. 9. Remember, mailng lists are archived. Think about what you are going to send. Use your subject line wisely and keep it simple! 10. Those of you with regular questions might want to wait til this is over to ask them, as your questions might get overlooked in all the mail. And lastly, the regular rules of the SHAMROCK list still apply. Flames etc should not ever be sent to the list. So, enjoy, and may we all "dig" up some ancestors! Remember! ** Use subject line for **surnames, locations and dates ** ** KISS :) ** Posts go to SHAMROCK-L@rootsweb.com <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Maura Petzolt maurasminis@hotmail.com <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! Hello, Generally, Maura starts the Party on or a day or two either way from St.Paddy's and it runs for about a week. I don't post often, but have been a member since almost the beginning. I have been reading the Posts, but didn't see her post the start as yet. I did see the post stating that she wanted to give the other Counties the chance to either change to Digest Mode or unsubscribe. I am also looking foward to the Party, with new members, you never know, we may find a cousin or two that we didn't know about : ) Happy St. Paddy's to all, Ed Horan

Sorry EM if you thought my comments were sarcastic, they were just meant to be factual. But as my sainted mother used to say " If the shoe fit's wear it" TC ----- Original Message ----- From: "E M" <hischild5391@hotmail.com> To: <SHAMROCK-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 15, 2005 1:24 PM Subject: Ancestor Roll Call > In reply to the person who posted the sarcastic message about people not waiting for the "go ahead" for the roll call. Yes, I posted some but only after I had quite a few in my mail box from the list. I thought I had missed the e-mail telling of the start. Possibly others did too. The messages from this list have been few and far between until recently and it one could be missed very easily. Let us be kind to one another please. > > ______________________________
