Kathleen - although I have not found a connection to your BELL names in Ireland, I am also researching that name but in Co Tyrone up to about 1903, but with a missing Robert John (or John Robert) BELL in the 1901 census. He would have been aged 20, (or 18 if he had already changed his birth year, which he did on his original birth certificate). Son of Richard and Martha (nee CAMPBELL) BELL, Presbyterians who married at Pomeroy, Co Tyrone in 1877. If anyone out there is connected to my family - I would love to hear from you. Regards, Dawn, Christchurch, New Zealand
Time Traveler <t.timetraveler@verizon.net> asked: << Is the DEANS surname more common in any part of Ireland? >> The CD Index to Griffith's Valuation has 22 entries for Deans and 3 entries for Deanes. Not counting 2 of 3 entries which have the same forename and parish, the distribution by county is as follows: Deans Deanes Londonderry 9 1 Antrim 6 1 Tyrone 3 Armagh 1 Tipperary 1 Wicklow 1

Hello: In the Limerich Chronicle dated Saturday, 1st of September in the year 1821. It lists a Neptune Blood as taking out a Certificate for Killing Game, about 24th day of March 1821. Same person? John the Irishman from Texas.
Many thanks to those that gave me the above. Cheers from Valerie in sunny Sydney. vbgarton@bigpond.com HAYDEN. HAYES. HIGGINSON. HUGHES. MOFFETT. GAINFORT. OAKSHOTT - all from Dublin or Cork. FITZGIBBON, HURLEY, LEAHY, TARRANT, VAUGHAN - Co Cork
I suspect the Captain Blood you refer to was a Captain Neptune Blood an infamous seafarer who was renowned for pressganging people into service with him. So much so that I know there was a vast amount of correspondance directed to him from relatives of missing persons asking if he had their relative in service with him. I cannot from memory remember where the correspondance was sent to but somewhere in my chaotic filing system I have a letter addressed to him. I will have a look and see if I can find it and if so will pass the details to the list. If anyone knows anything else about this man I too would be interested in the details. Keith Rippin

Tony, While I applaud your efforts to get these church records online... I feel I must clarify one point you made in your post, a point which in the past has been deliberatly confusing to people. Rootsweb was -never- and -is not- a "non profit corporation". Never. They never claimed to be technically, tho they did solicit "contributions". The "company" was in fact owned by Brian Leverich and Karen Isaacson, and was sold to MyFamily.com Inc for several million dollars in stocks and monies. Rootsweb.com Inc is now owned by MyFamily.com Inc. While they have made pledges to keep your data from being sold etc, please do not think that Rootsweb, MyFamily, Ancestry or really any other online genealogy source is not out to make money from our use, by selling ads on sites etc. Virtually all the online sites are sponsored by someone now, it's just too expensive to run and too profitable to pass by. Please let's not start a debate on the lists about this folks, but please realize that Rootsweb never was a non-profit anything. This was a source of great consternation for many of us all along. Hi Just subscribed to the list and would like to post my question. I have just found out that my great grandmother was from Galway, only that is about all the info I have. Her name was Margaret Cannon, daughter of Michael and Bridget Joyce Cannon, born circa 1855 or so. I know she had a brother Michael who was nine years older than she and that the they came to Boston in 1868. She married Patrick Higgins in 1874 and they had six children, Thomas 1875, Margaret 1878, Mary 1880, James 1882, Bridget 1885 and Edward 1887. She died in 1920 and he in 1911. Would anyone have any information on the Cannon family? Thanks so much for your help. Also is there a website for Galway? Maureen

Within two months we will be traveling to Ireland and we are very, very excited about it!!! We have been told and have seen some evidence of Nugents through out the County Westmeath. We will wish to visit the Nugent Castle. "So as not to invent the wheel" we thought we'd ask if there is anyone (Nugents included) who might wish to give suggestions on visiting Nugent location and maybe even making contact with Irish Nugent residents. We'd appreciate any information one might wish to provide us. Please e-mail us. Thank you! Cliff Nugent
We would like to pick your brains on research you have done and possibly come up with some ties. One of the family members who is doing searches on family members has found a close tie which could be a relative. Sarah (Curry) McMANIGELL was a Godparent for BARRETT, McANDREW and BARRY children or these person were Godparents for McMANIGELL children. They all were born in Ireland and either helped start or were members of the St. Patrick's Church in Shelby County, IL. The names are: Cornelious Barrett, Marie Leone Gehant, Hannah Barry, Edward Barrett, Michael Barrett, Charles Barrett, Patrick McAndrew Malanda McAndrew. I know Patrick McAndrew was born in County Mayo in 1824. Any assistance on our search will be greatly appreciated! Cliff N.
Dear Shamrock Listers, In case you haven't yet noticed, Rootsweb has added the Irish marriage and baptismal record database which has formerly been known as "Baptism and Marriage Records of the Archdiocese of Cashel & Emly, Counties Tipperary and Limerick." Rootsweb won the nod for these records because they are the oldest and largest internet genealogy organization in the world. The fact that they have more visitors to their sites and that they have done this all as a non-profit organization is even more to their credit. Rootsweb will soon be the exclusive home for this unique collection of church records. These are complete records, not just indexes or abstracts. They contain the names of the witnesses, the parents, the name of the parish, the name of the priest, and even some have the name of the town or townland of those listed. The new site address is: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishchurchrecords/index.html Rootsweb's Irish Church Records; Tipperary, Limerick, Waterford, Clare You will notice that the name has changed. This is because this wonderful set of over 3,400 records is growing and will encompass the counties and dioceses in the counties adjacent to the original two counties. Now marriages and baptisms from Tipperary's adjacent Diocese of Waterford and Lismore will be included. It will also include all records from Limerick's Diocese of Limerick, and the Diocese of Killaloe, which is in adjacent County Clare. It will be broadened also by the fact that it is open to Church of Ireland Records from these four counties as well. It is very easy to search; just put in the surname or full name of your ancestor, and hit the search button. Right now you will find that practically all of the records are from Counties Tipperary and Limerick. You may now add your baptismal records from these other two counties of Waterford and Clare. At the search site you will see a link at the bottom of the page, "How to Donate your Irish church records to this database." If you have actual baptismal record information from any source on any persons in these areas, please consider becoming a Donor of records. Your name and e-mail will be listed as a contact for each record you donate. There have already been a number of genuine "connections" from the information in these records; the next one could be yours. Best wishes, Tony Riordan triordan@msn.com _________________________________________________________ http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~irishchurchrecords/index.html Rootsweb's Irish Church Records; Tipperary, Limerick, Waterford & Clare
According to the Helpdesk, the archives of any of the mailing lists are one of the few things that are still "intermittant" in the workings at the new location. All I can suggest is that you keep trying..... they're bound to work eventually. You can browse the archives of any list by going to http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl ..... when they're working of course :( <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Maura Petzolt mpetzolt2@webtv.net <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> SHAMROCK ROOTS homepage http://community.webtv.net/shamrockroots/SHAMROCKROOTS Helpful Hints for Successful Searching http://community.webtv.net/mpetzolt2/helpfulhints

Hello everybody, After spending the past month in hospital under the watchful care of Limerick's best, I'm back and looking forward to perusing the seven hundred-odd digests in my mailboxes. This has been my second absence in recent times and it has made me realise how much I enjoy these lists and look forward to reading your diverse postings. My partner Siobhan had actually been printing out my email and bringing it to the hospital, until my printer ran out of ink. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who continued to visit my website, making it one of the most frequently visited genealogy sites on the internet, boasting over twenty-nine thousand visits in the past six months. http://www.geocities.com/irishancestralpages/ I hope to be adding to the existing databases and adding some new databases over the next two months. I would also like to thank all of those who joined the Irish Ancestral Pages Community. http://www.geocities.com/irishancestralpages/ I am sending this email to a number of lists which I subscribe to, so please bear with me if you belong to similar lists.
