    1. [SH] McDonnells & Kellys
    2. John Kelly
    3. My great-grandfather, Peter Kelly, was born in Townland of Meedian (Irish-Meeden), Civil Parish of Clonfad, Catholic Parish of Rochfortbridge, Barony of Fartullagh, Co. Westmeath in 1842. His father was Michael Kelly and mother was Ann McDonnell. In searching Tithe Applotment and subsequent valuation lists, I haven't found a Kelly listing in this 24-family community - obviously, they did not come from that Townland originally. I did find a McDonnell family, however. Inasmuch as Michael Kelly was rumored to have been a soldier, probably stationed in nearby Mullingar, I think that Ann McDonnell went to a McDonnell relatives home to have her baby, Peter Kelly. I'm interested in researching the following: 1) finding the original Townland of my Kelly ancestors so I can include these Kellys' in my family history. All I have now is that Peter Kelly was born in Meedian. It is apparent that my Kellys' did not originate in Meedian. 2) Peter Kellys' siblings, if any, in Meedian. 3) Ann McDonnell's parents and siblings in Meedian. Has anyone done any research on these names in the Mullingar or Meedian areas? If so, I will gladly exchange my information on the New York branch of the Kelly family. Further, does anyone know the names and addresses of any priest contacts in the Catholic parish of Rochfortbridge, the Catholic Church in Mullingar and librarians in the library in Mullingar, so I can correspond with them? Lastly, since I have never had to ask for church records before, do I make a "donation" to the priest, parish, etc.? If so, how much money should I send? Can it be by personal check, cash, Irish money? Do I send international postal coupons with my initial letter to make sure I get a reply? Thanks, John M. 3. Hi Marcena Have only found spelling of Radaca once & it was on the 1850 Census for St. Clair Co. Michigan. Have you tried this site? http://www.omen.com.au/~lumac/namerad.html it has lots of different spellings. My Rattigans (Rhadigan) came to Michigan St. Clair Co. area about 1850. I believe they left Liverpoole 1839 to New York then Canada before coming to the Michigan. James & Mary Rattigan had several sons & a daughter born in Canada with last 2 daughter being born in Michigan ,1st one in 1852.Are any of your Rattigans in Michigan? have not looked for all the brother & sisters of my grandfather Charles Rhadigan, his father was Thomas with James & Mary as Thomas' parents Maybe we can connect?? My grandfather J.Y. Snyder, Sr. married twice, and his second wife was a daughter of John Beattie O'Kelley. I am not researching this family but I have forwarded your post to someone who is researching the O'Kelleys. I am not really related to them, other than my uncle is their cousin (half brother to my father), but we are sharing data, especially when we find something of interest to one another. My grandfather was a native of Louisiana and his second wife was too. Perhaps Cle can help you with this family or know someone who can. Good luck, Patricia Snyder --part1_33.1268e654.27ec0ef0_boundary--

    1. [SH] msn/hotmail users please read
    2. Maura
    3. This is to let the subscribers to the SHAMROCK and CountyCork lists who use msn or hotmail services know that I am getting an abnormally high number of bounces to all kinds of msn , email.msn and hotmail addresses . This started this weekend and has continued to today, including 60 just since this morning. There doesn't seem to be a pattern I can determine, and the bounces don't make sense (they are not generally full mailboxes, they are the generic "user unknown" or "cannot deliver mail" messages when isp's just go a bit nutty). Why am I sending this then? Well, if you are a user of one of these services and suddenly get no mail from lists, it might be because you get bounced off because the mail can't get through to you. Many people have already gotten bounced off unfortunately. There isn't really anything I can do about this, or Rootsweb either... you would have to check with msn/hotmail. (Webtv is owned by msn also, but those don't seem to be bouncing). This is just a heads up in case you notice something is going wrong with the amount of mail (or lack of it) you are getting.
