    3. Hi Kathy, My heart stopped when I started to read your post. I have a John and Margaret O'Neil who finally settled in Plattsburgh, New York. I don't know where they left from, in Ireland. Long ago, my Aunt said something about County Cork, but at that time I did not care. I recently asked her about it and she can't remember (she is 80). We do know they came from County Armagh and County Monaghan because that is inscribed on their headstones in a Plattsburgh, New York cemetery. They are in the 1850 census but not the 1840. My Aunt told me she thought they came to the States during the Potato Famine, so that would be about your time frame, of 1847. The only thing, the children do not match. Their children were Owen, John, James, Patrick, Henry and Ann. I don't have an answer to your question. I am just thinking about trying to find when my O'Neils arrived and where they left from. I did find a very good website with a lot of good research help. All the information is, also, in ! a booklet at any Family History Center. 3. Hi List, Could someone give me an answer to this. I have a copy of 1901 Census of Ireland. The head of the family is named as James Callan, aged 76 - along with Wife, two sons, and a daughter. One of the sons is named on the bottom as being the `household of``. Although he wasn`t married - does this mean that the rest of the family were living with him in `his` house. Thanks, Maureen.

Three branches of that family are settled in Munster; Ballyhoe, co. Carlow, Wilton Castle, co. Wexford, and Dunmore, co. Waterford. His father soon thereafter moved the family to Dublin, where he took a job as a Prison Warder. My father had at least 1 Brother, Samuel who later emmigrated to Australia.( Where, I have no idea. ) My Father also had at least 1 Sister, who emmigrated to British Columbia,Canada and married a Man named McDonald in Kitchener, B.C. I have no idea what my grand fathers name was. I seem to recall that My Grandmothers name was either Mary or Margaret and she was fromCounty Donegal. Unfortunately at the time my father was alive I was not into genealogy and therefore did not ask the questions that would have made my search much more fruitful. I didn't have a computer or know about the Internet until about 3 years ago and I have been out there since trying to trace my roots. My Father once told me that The McCready Clan was originally from Scotland and went into Ireland in the Army of Oliver Cromwell, where they married Irish Lasses and stayed I suspect that the Clan was based somewhere around the Londonderry or Belfast Area.as my father talked about Derry . I don't think my father and his father got along well as his present to my father on his 15th birthday was a one way ticket to Canada. I seem to hit a brick wall everywhere I go. I would be greatly appreciative if some kind soul could maybe e-mail me back with information that would help me to push down the wall and get on with my search.or at least e-mail back when I send them an e-mail. Meath, Ireland, but I believe that they lost their land around 1650 following the Cromwellian transplantations. They moved to the townlands of Bocks Upper and Dunaree, Co. Monaghan, Ireland. Some emigrated to work in Leadville, Colorado and Anaconda, Montana, USA. I would be interested in hearing from anyone with (or without!) a connection. Let's find those rellies! Best wishes, David O'Daly.
