    3. Researching family of Dominick McGLINN who married Elizabeth DOHERTY 5 August 1860 at St. Gertrude's Roman Catholic Church, Woodstock, NB. Witness: Bridget and Richard McGlynn. Elizabeth may be the daughter of Patrick Doherty (various spellings) and Mary O'Neal (O'Neil). Elizabeth born in Richmond, NB 1834. Sponsors at baptism: James Kelly and Jane Shannon. Other known children of Patrick and Mary were Michael and George. Dominick born <>1830 in Ireland (perhaps Cty. Sligo). Twin children, William Henry (baptized as James) and Bridget (baptized as Mary), of Dominick and Elizabeth McGlinn born 1861 and baptized at St. Gertrude's in Woodstock. Dominick McGlinn, Elizabeth and twins found in Littleton, Maine in 1870 US Census. Peter McGlinn residing in same area of Littleton also found on Census. Peter married Margaret Grimmison in Woodstock. Margaret died and Peter married Mary Ann Currier in Houlton. Peter born in Ireland, emigrated to Woodstock/Richmond, NB; then migrated to Littleton, Maine as did Dominick. James McGlinn married Elicia (aka Sarah) Kerigan at St. Gertrude's RC Church/Woodstock. Family resided in Richmond, NB. Children baptized at St. Gertrude's: Bridget, James, Richard and Sarah. 1851 Carleton Cty. Census for Richmond lists James' and Elicia's children as John, Bidy, James, Andrew, and Sarah. Are Dominick, Peter, and James related? James born <>1793; Peter, <>1818; and Dominick, <>1834. All born in Ireland. Children of Dominick and Elizabeth McGlinn: Wm Henry, Bridget, Mary Ann, Catherine Frances, Sarah Jane, Susan, Rose Ellen (Rosella), and Elizabeth (Lizzie). Mary Ann McGlinn Tait, died 1906, buried with husband, William John Tait, in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor, Maine. Bridget married James Duffy as second wife. No issue. Mary Ann McGlinn Tait and William John Tait had Henry Harrison, William John, and Mary Ellen. Mary Ann was only child of Dominick and Elizabeth McGlinn with issue. Haven't been able to locate date of Dominick's entry into Canada. Does anyone have a connection with this family? Ruth Warren thurlow@tiac.net

The spelling of the name in the Irish Constabulary records is no guarantee that the man in question spelt his name that way. I very much doubt that there is a list of Irish magistrates for any year on line. However, the (Thom's) Dublin Directory for 1853 has an alphabetical list of all JPs as well as a county by county list giving their addresses. 1. [SH] Any BREEN, CONNOR, LOGAN, CAIN in Co. Cork, Ireland?
    2. John T. Lannom
    3. For the past 10 years - without any success, I have been searching for any information on my above-mentioned ancestors. My gg-grandparents were, John BREEN (b. 8/16/1828 in Co. Cork) and Ellen M. LOGAN (b. 2/5/1838). John Breen's parents were: David BREEN/Margaret CONNOR. Ellen Breen's parenrs were: Bernard LOGAN/Mary CAIN. I have written to many Breens in Co Cork, with no success; written to the Heritage Center, with no success; hired a professional genealogist in Co. Cork, with no success; written to several Catholic Priests, with no success. What I do have is the names of John and David BREEN listed in two locations in Co. Cork in Griffiths Valuation -- (1) Parish - Drishane; Location - Ballydaly and (2) Parish - Kilmeen; Location Doonasleen, North. I am seeking information on the marriage date/place of John and Ellen Breen in Ireland and any information on their siblings, parents, etc. I am certain no other Breen family immigrated with them and that they left family in Ireland. John and Ellen Breen immigrated BEFORE 1861 when their first child was born in Ohio in that year. I have all my Breen ancestor information after 1861 in the US, but nothing in Ireland. They were of the Catholic Faith. Any suggestions/direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Please e-mail me at: <jlannom@fuse.net> Carole Lannom

    2. Margaret Mullen
    3. Hi. I am new to this list and to searching in Ireland. I am hoping some kind soul can point me to the next logical place to search and give me some pointers on geneological etiquette in Ireland. I have recently tracked down information about my grandmother. Winifred CORRIGAN, born abt 1890 to Owen CORRIGAN and Mary Ellen DONNELAN. She emigrated from Parsonstown, Drogheda to NYC in 1908 to marry Edward MULLEN. Her brother Peter CORRIGAN had emigrated previously to Newark , NJ. Winifred MULLEN re-entered the US in 1910. She gave Owen CORRIGAN, Clogherhead, Drogheda as her nearest relative in Ireland. Parsonstown is a townland in Drogheda. When I look at an old map of Louth, Clogherhead appears on the coast. One of the rootsweb sites (unfortunately I can't remember which one) lists Clogherhead as a R.C. parish associated with Parsonstown. It also says that the church records are not available on an LDS film. So my questions - where do I find parents marriage and children's baptismal records? Are civil records the best option or do I write to the R.C. parish? If so, how do I find the parish address? In the states, I always send a donation for this type of request. How much of a donation is appropriate? Can I send US dollar check? If not, how do I convert the funds? Thanks in advance Margaret Mullen researching in Ireland MULLEN: Armagh, Ireland > NY, US abt 1886 CORRIGAN: Parsonstown, Drogheda, Louth > NY, US 1908 CARWAY / CARAWAY / CARROWAY: prob Sligo, Ireland > NY abt 1865

    2. Frank Wolfe
    3. Hello Fellow Listers, Could some sks inform me if an index of persons who were Justices Of The Peace in Ireland in 1853, would be available on line, please. My reason for asking is, that my ggrandfather was recommended for a job in the Royal Irish Constabulary by a JP named W.G.Sands. Some time ago I had a search done by an Irish genealogy researcher and he concluded that the name would have been spelled Sandes, even though his name was written as W.G.Sands on my grandfather's Police service records. I wish to know if either or maybe both W.G.Sandes and W.G Sands, were JP.s in 1853. Any information or assistance would be greatly appreciated. Regards Frank Wolfe

    3. I have recently taken over the Kings County NY GenWeb page (Brooklyn). If your ancestors settled in or came through Brooklyn, you might want to take a peek there. I am currently in the process of adding much information to the page, but the basics are there right now. Also, if you have a homepage with Brooklyn connections, I would be glad to link your page to the Brooklyn Homepages section. Just go to the page at http://community.webtv.net/shamrockroots/kingsny and click on the Homepages link, then follow the guidelines to submit your page. All my Irish lines came through Brooklyn NY, so most of my own research is in the Brooklyn NY. You can reach my personal homepage with all my research interests (Irish, Slovak and German) off a link towards the bottom of that page.
