I need to change my email address from rblandclf@rr.com to doodah62@hotmailcom. Thanks
While looking in The Irish Golden Pages, I found several listings for the surname TOOMEY. One of the listings has the first name as Cors. Could anyone please tell me if that is a male or female name? Also another listing had, what I think is an abbreviation for first name, Mce. I would like to know the same. Thanks for any input. Theresa TWD151@aol.com
I wanted to thank all of you who have helped me so much in the past year. I started my search for my family history a little over a year ago when it became apparent that my Mother was ill. She wanted to know about her family and their history. She had left Canada when she was very young and wanted to know more about the family she remembered. It became a passion with me. So many of you have help me so much, you have know idea what it has meant to me. The information you gave me brought my Mother alot of joy. But now my mind is only on my Mother. She got pneumonia 2 wks. ago and was on life support. Although she is now off life support and breathing on her own, she can no longer swallow nor eat. My Father and I today signed papers to have her put in hospice care. They will only do what is necessary to make her comfortable and her time left dignified. It is now just a matter of time. To those of you who spent your precious time taking pictures, getting certificates and looking up information, we thank you. Know that your time and trouble made my Mother very happy and gave the rest of the family a history that will be pass on through generations. When I can, I will return and continue searching for information on my Mother's family. I will leave my names with you. If anyone happens to find something in your searching, please feel free to e-mail me at AmberSun2@AOL.com. List, I am posting, once again, my genealogical interests. If you are researching the BROSNAHAN, BRUSNIHAN or STOKES surname from County Cork(on the border of Limerick) or County Kerry, would like to share information. I am also researching the surnames McCORMICK AND McGOWAN, but do not as yet know what county they were from. My McCORMICK came from a stonecutter background. I have a surname and date range of RC baptisms in Co. Louth which I received from the Co. Louth Library. I paid about $25.00 at the time. Hi listers, On 30 April, Margaret Mullen wrote asking about RC Church records from Clogherhead RC Parish in Co Louth. I recently researched some ancestors in the RC Parish of Dromiskin in Co Louth which I was lucky enough to find on microfilm. Both of these parishes are in the Diocese of Armagh. While researching, I found a reference in in Ryan's book "Irish Records" to research group named Armagh Ancestry. According to Ryan, "Armagh Ancestry, 42 English Street,Armagh, N. Ireland BT6 7AB Phone: (0861) 521802 , fax (0861) 510033 is an organization that has computer-indexed all of Armagh and some of Louth Catholic church registers pre 1900 (including Clogherhead). Researchers are advised to contact the center for an updated list of registers. Research services are conducted for a fee." Has anyone on the list used their services and can you fill us in on details ? Are they still in operation ? My Ryan book is from 1997. Thanks for any help Rick Hutton USA

Daniel Spillane (1821, Ire.-1886, Bangor, Maine) m. Margaret Buckley, probably in Ire before 1850 (Re: Maine Census 1850). We believe Daniel and brothers: Maurice, James, Neil immigrated through Newfoundland and to Bangor in 1847. Margaret died, probably in childbirth Circa 1860, Bangor. Maurice was married to Catherine Burke before leaving Ireland. Maurice worked for Michael Roberts of Kilmancy Abbey who furnished Maurice w/ letter of recommendation before emigration. Daniel & James stayed in Bangor; Maurice moved to Ohio and finally to Wisconsin. No "info" on Neil yet. Searching for parents of these men in County Cork.
can someone tell me if the NAtinal School records are available for every county?? And what years do they cover?
Hi folks, Well, the virus with the "look to the attachment" saying that has been going around is STILL affecting various members of this list and the CountyCork list. PLEASE do not open any attachments that you get from anyone! Ever! Unless you specifically asked for them (like data files or photos). I'm still unsubbing people as I know of this, and then they can resub when they are clean. The latest person is Tinker45@prodigy.net , but there have been a few others.. sokar@earthlink.net etc. Just don't open anything, and be sure you have a good virus program on your system. We webtv users don't have to worry about it (other than getting those dumb emails) and most Macintosh users are ok too. Hang in there.... because I hear it's spreading like wildfire through the US lists now :( So be careful. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Maura Petzolt mpetzolt2@webtv.net <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> SHAMROCK ROOTS homepage http://community.webtv.net/shamrockroots/SHAMROCKROOTS Helpful Hints for Successful Searching http://community.webtv.net/mpetzolt2/helpfulhints

My friend in the Welfare Dept. in Dublin just sent me this article..hot off the press! Good new for everyone! ~Sue :} (excuse the cross-postings!) :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: HIGH TECH MODERNISATION OF BIRTHS MARRIAGES AND DEATHS REGISTRATION PROPOSED IN NEW CONSULTATION DOCUMENT Ministers Dermot Ahern and Michael Martin today to-day joined forces to launch a consultation document as the first step in modernising the system of registration of births, deaths and marriages (Civil Registration). The document "Bringing Civil Registration into the 21st Century" is intended to inform people of the plans to modernise the Civil Registration Service and to seek the views of the widest possible audience. Speaking at the launch, Minister Ahern said "The present system is now over 150 years old and needs to be modernised. The Government is committed to delivering a high quality public service by exploiting the best technology now available. This is a good example of that promise in action. It will make queues for births certificates a thing of the past by taking the need for paper certificates out of the system." Minister Martin went on to say "We are spending some £7 million on developing a modern Civil Registration Service as part of the Government's modernisation action programme. This is a key building block in the integration of public services and eGovernment with the objective of providing more convenient access to information and services". Following a competitive tendering process, the contract has been awarded to Accenture. Ian Slattery, partner, Accenture said "Accenture is delighted to be working with Government on the modernisation of the Civil Registration Service. The modernisation programme will radically transform the way citizens interact with the Departments and will firmly move the Departments to the fore in the provision of services to citizens electronically." The key proposals in the Consultation document are: · Registrars of Births to be located in maternity hospitals to allow easier registration. · Marriage notification/registration may be completed at any Registrar's office. · Registration may be completed by post. · Certificate to be provided free of charge where the event is registered within a specified time. · Personal Public Service Number to be allocated at birth registration. · All adoptions, both national and foreign, to be registered. · A central divorce/nullity database to be created. · Birth/Death/Marriage certificates to be forwarded electronically to the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs for social welfare purposes eg Child Benefit. · Certificates to be available at designated locations country-wide. It is planned that the new service will be implemented in the first quarter 2002. The document is available on the Web at www.welfare.ie
There are a few website addresses that will be of interest to many of you. Dave, a FHC volunteer has done an incredible amount of research indexing many of the records found in the Family History Center. As you all know the National School records are a valuable source of information. Unfortunately there is no index of the schools. The schools are not listed by Townlands, so Dave in the past several years has been sorting through the films and making an index for the following counties: Antrim Armagh Derry Down Fermanagh Tyrone The school records will show the following: child, parents fathers occupation, if known http://fscfhc.homestead.com/files/EASTERN/IRELAREF.HTML scroll down to schools and click on link For those of you finding ship names and dates on the Ellis Island site you can go to the following website and see the film # for your relative's ship. It also lists the various ports of entry in the U.S.; actual passenger lists; indexes etc... It is EXCELLENT! http://fscfhc.homestead.com/files/SCFHCINV.HTML Scroll down to Emigration/Immigration and click on the link You can also access so much more at the homepage. URL: http://fscfhc.homestead.com/files/INDEX.HTML I wish to thank Dave for all the thousands of hours he has spent to make finding records at the FHC (Family History Center) so much easier for us. Go raibh maith agat Dave. Slan go foill, Margaret (Mairead)

I decided to change my contract from 3 months to 1 year. I have to use the 800# to make that change as well. I would suggest that you not try to conduct any large business on an 800# on a Monday. There is always a long wait for most 800# on Monday. I doubt I will be canceling this service soon. I get more results on Ancestry than any other place. Close second is FTM. Good Luck, Bettye
