    1. RE: [SH] Births in County Antrim
    2. As you already know the parish, go to familysearch.org, pick Library, pick Catalog, pick Place. Then type the parish name. This will lead you to the holdings of the Family History Library. IF you find an entry for Church Records, click on it and proceed. You can order the microfilm from Salt Lake City to your local Family History Center if it exists. 3. Hi List, Saw Bob's post about the Catholic Parish records and wondered if he or anyone would also have access to Protestant parish records in County Antrim? I am looking for the birth of my gg grandmother, Matilda Jane Dobbin(s), born July 10, 1862. The family was protestant in America but I suppose could have started out Catholic. She lived in Cranfield, Staffordstown in Duneane parish, County Antrim, at the age of 18 when she sailed for America so I am guessing she was born near there. Her parents were Charles Dobbin and Mary Forbes (Dobbin), perhaps married about 1860 if Matilda was their first born. Any help to point me in the right direction would be appreciated. Thank you, JIM

If you want to check an ancestor, try an e-mail to a list such as this and perhaps SKS who has the CD will do a lookup gratis and respond. Tom.

    2. Sorry! I forgot to put the county. I plead CRS. It's County Carlow. Debbie Honoria BYRNE born before 1819 Ballyloughan, RC Parish of Bagenalstown, married Andrew LAWLER 1839 same location. Daughter Margaret born year or so later also same location. At some point, they emigrated. Location unknown. So far a search of US census records has not revealed anything conclusive. Someone did find on an Irish cd, an Honoria and Margaret about the right ages sailing to the US. This was about 1851. This may or may not have been them. If so, then Andrew must have come over sooner. Debbie

    3. Hello List from NZ, My ancestor was John MORIARTY from Coom, near Rathmore, Kerry. John lived to 103 years old and had an interesting life. He died in 1904. He was a stonemason who (I think) married Johanna MURPHY from Reanasup. She and a daughter may have died during the famine as John married again in 1858. He married Mary DESMOND and they had 9 children: 1.Cornelius MORIARTY, born in Cloonts, near Rathmore, 1859 married Margaret CRONIN 2. Daniel MORIARTY, born 1861, Cloonts 3. John MORIARTY, born 1862, Cloonts 4. Margaret MORIARTY, born 1866 Millstreet, Cork 5.Johanna MORIARTY, born 1869, Coom, Kerry 6. Denis MORIARTY, born 1871, Coom married Mary SULLIVAN 7. John MORIARTY, born 1873, Coom 8. Patrick MORIARTY, born 1875, Coom 9. Michael MORIARTY, born 1880, Coom My ggfather was John MORIARTY, not listed above, who was the illegitimate child of the above John M (stonemason) and Ellen DONOHOE. Mary DESMOND was the baptismal sponsor and presumably raised him. My John M was born in Cloonts in 1859 and was effectively the 2nd eldest of the children. He emigrated to New Zealand in 1878 and married Abina LUCEY who was from Aubane, near Millstreet, Cork. An interesting set of ancestors and I would be delighted to hear of anybody with possible connections. Cheers Brian Moriarty Nelson, New Zealand

Of course you are always welcome to send surname info to any list you are on, however, to get more assistance, you should always put the surnames in the subject line, not things like "Roll Call" or "my interests". I hope this helped at least some of you, and that some connections were made, or help was given.
