The first child ,Sara, was baptized in the Durch Reform Church. Her parents were (John) Adam Shafer and Elizabeth Swartwood, dau. of Thomas Swartwood and Elizabeth Ennes. The Shafer family was in Bedford Twp., Luzerne County before 1787 and in Kingston Borough by 1792. Adam Shafer was the son of Frederick Shafer. (Undocumented). He was born in N.J. 15 miles from Philadelphia in 1754. Adam enlisted in the Rev. War in Schliffensburg, Cumberland Co., PA in 1776. A Frederick Shafer was taxed in 1768-72 in Cumberland Co. I am looking for researchers of this Frederick Shafer. Frederick Shafer was the immigtrant and worked in this country to defray his passage. JoAnn
