I am attempting to make contact with a branch of my Shafer side who apparently moved from the Barron County area of Wisconsin to Washington State around the turn of this century. The parents of these Shafers were Frederick (b 2/22/1855 Rock Co WI, d 12/301918 Barron Co, WI) and either Charlotte Alderman, or Henrietta Tate. There is a possibility that the elder children of this family took with them some information that may assist me in tracing the origins and eventually resting place of Fredericks father, John Shafer, and mother Juliana Newell. Oral traditions point to John Shafer being Pennsylvania Dutch.
