Their daughter, Mary Smith, married Andrew Shafer on January 13, 1842, in Delaware County, IN. Mary (Smith) Shafer died there on June 4, 1844. According to the 1860 census for Liberty Township, Delaware County, Andrew was born in about 1807 in Penn. His second wife was Sarah. Judging from the ages of their five children (in 1860), I would guess that the oldest one may have been the son of his first wife, Mary. Is there anyone out there who has information on this family?
