Michael My wife is a descendent of a Johannes Schaeffer, b. 1740 Schoharie Co. who was the son of Heinrich Schaeffer. During my research at the Stone Fort Museum I found a Schaeffer genealogy tracing the family from a Gerhardt Schaffer, b. bef 1680 through five generations (18 pages) as well as a second genealogy, covering Children of Johan Henrich Schaffer and Eva Sternberg (6 pages) plus a third genealogy that I noted at the time was "full of errors" that starts with Elisabeth Schaeffer, d. Oct. 28, 1749, and "Johanis Schaeffer, b. 1690, and Henrich, b. 1698 were the first Schaeffers in Schoharie." The genealogy covers descendents through to the mid-1800s (27 pages) .
