I am seeking info on an Alfred P. Shaffer who was born 1831 in VA. He was the brother to my gt. grandmother Mariah Catherine Shaffer, Thompson. They were of German decent. It has been handed down that Mariah's grandfather was a George Shaffer born in Germany and had a bible 200 years old. The bible never came down to my line, so I don't know what happened to it. Alfred and wife, Nancy are buried in the Jamesport Cemetery in Jamesport. One daughter Mary worked for the Hotel Drummond at one time. It was also noted that the father was a Samuel Shaffer......could any of these be of your line? Thanks, Virginia Rose
